FS/FT - Fodera Monarch Elite 5 String

Sign in to disble this ad
FS/FT - My beautiful Fodera Monarch Elite 5 String. Curly/burl maple top on walnut, neck through, gold hardware. Made in 1988. It has Bartiloni pups and a Hazlab preamp, rosewood fretboard, matching headstock. It has a passive and mute switch. This bass is gorgeous, excellent player, and killer tone - very flexible - it can be warm or snappy or anything in between. Overall it's in very good condition, but there is some buckle rash on the back, some patina on the gold hardware, but frets, electronics, neck, etc. is all in very good condition. Comes with Fodera hard shell case.

I have had this bass for several months. I bought it as a five string to go with my 4 string Monarch, but I've come to realize that I just don't like 5 string basses. I gave it a shot, but when it comes down to it I really prefer 4's (and oddly enough 6's). I bought a few fivers over the past year, and ended up selling all of them except 1. I am sticking with 4's and 6's. This is a really, really nice bass, but I can't see myself playing it too much in the future, and this bass should be played.

Outright sale for $5250 plus shipping. Local pickup in Seattle area is fine. Hit me up if you have a trade, I am really interested in high-end 4's and 6's (especially Jazz-type basses) - Fodera's, Sadowsky's, F Basses, vintage Jazz basses, high-end tube amps, and 2x12 speaker cabs, +- cash as needed. I really wouldn't mind finding a 4 string Fodera as a trade, or a Sadowsky Will Lee (if I sell I'll probably finance a Sad Will Lee model with the proceeds).

Trades that I am not interested in include any amps except tube amps, P-type basses, and basses with humbuckers in the bridge position. I'd consider basses that I could sell quickly for $$$. Anything else, the worst that I can say is no.

More pics on request, let me know if any questions.

A few ppl had requested a pic of the back.

Scale is 34", string space I believe is 19 mm - it's "standard" string spacing. The preamp is a Hazlab.

Thanks!

Somebody buy this so that I can buy Tom7's Ying Yang ..

Also, I am leaving for the holidays tomorrow, so any deal will need to wait until January ... but don't hesitate to make one in the mean time :-)

This bass temps me constantly, so a bumptaya. Walnut Foderas just have this killer sound. It's just that I'm not sure I want a 5er at this moment.

Why don't you sell me your Monarch 4 so you can pay for Tom's Yin Yang

Are those the right electronics for an early Monarch? Looks like someone may have special ordered it with Emperor electronics. Nice bass!

Not sure if the electronics are "standard" on a Monarch from that time frame - I e-mailed fodera but they do not have a lot of info on the bass.

I received 1 trade request that I am considering, but would really like to get an outright sale. One last bump before I try my hand on EvilBay!

On eBay right now, but would consider stopping the auction for the right offer
