FS/FT G&L L1500 Three bolt! PRISTINE!

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a G&L L1500 in Forest Green/British Racing Green. Some of the pictures Show the true color, others are washed out in the flash. I am no photographer, but I do my best. This bass is nearly flawless. Some flaking on the back of the bridge I did not notice until I zoomed in to take pics! Three-bolt neck, I believe a 1987? You guys know what you are looking at. $750 O.B.O. or trade for? Make me an offer, I will let you steal this bass chances are! I WILL TRADE DOWN IF YOU ADD CASH! OR POSSIBLY UP WITH ME ADDING CASH!

Thanks,
Zack

Damn Zack! That bass is GREEN!!!

Is this a Jazz Profile neck? What's the weight? Case? Gig-Bag?

I'm assuming the controls are Vol/Treble/Bass, Passive/Active & Series/Parallel...

Yes on the controls! yes, I believe on the neck. feels like a jazz neck with a precision width to me, very thin and fast! and I have a lot of G&L's, so for the right deal I can find a case or bag. Yeah, she is GREEN! Supah sexy! I have no scale, but she has some heft. Bathroom says around 9. not the most accurate in the world, but the best I have available.

I think it's a early 90s model because of the pickup location, more similar to a Stingray bass. The 80s models had their humbucker placed in a "P-bass" position, which was nearer to the fretboard.

You are thinking of the L1000, a different and altogether awesome bass in it's own regard.

The L1500 has the pickup in the MM position (between the L100 and L200 position, hence L1500) and is still in production though the current ones have a six bolt neck. I concur that this one is from the early to mid 90's.

Not sure of the date of the L1500 introduction, but probably after the Climax was discontinued.

96-97 Catalog shot of the L1500s

My old catalogs show the #5 neck size as standard for the L1500.

Not sure when G&L changed the #5 neck width from 1 5/8" to 1 3/4".
Bleeb the neck radius has stayed the same 7 1/2".

"Clear Forest Green" has been a Premier Finish since the 90s.

The date stamps should be found on the neck butt and body neck pocket.

Good luck with your sale.

What's the Serial Number?

The place to go for G&L information is Guitars by Leo website:

http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/

They have ANYTHING you want to know about G&L guitars & basses there.

You could check the pots' EIA codes.

That will give you a guesstimate of the age.

The serial numbers on the neck plates will also give a guesstimate on the age.

B025856 in the GbL Registry is a Climax Bass with a body date of 1994.

I bleeb the L1500 was introduced by G&L/BBE after the Climax was discontinued.

Pro'lly circa 1995-1998, but just a guess.
Think G&L started phasing in the 6 bolt bass necks in 1998.

I used to have a '95 L2000 that was the exact same color and neck profile!
