NEW PICS! $1000 $850 paypal, free CONUS shipping in OHSC.
This is a really special one-of-a-kind guitar, that I will probably regret selling, but it just doesn't ever get played out.
Features:
High grade bookmatched Mahogany body. (The streaks in the top are amazing, really hard to do it justice with pictures.)
#8 Quarter-sawn Maple/Rosewood neck (that's 1.5" nut, 12" radius), 3-bolt, PLEK'd at factory.
Tri-tone Electronics, saddle-lock bridge... etc.
Weight is about 9lbs on bathroom scale, it's not heavy or light. Balances well with a wide strap.
Pristine condition, only gigged twice. I am the original owner.
Trades considered for Fender-style Jazz and PJ basses (4 or 5 string) for example '08 or newer Fender Am Std Jazz, G&L JB, Reverend Rumblefish PJ, Lakland DJ, Lull Jazz + my cash. Ash body/Maple neck preferred.
ALL Basses must be 9lbs or less, and fretted.

All basses have neck dive to some extent. I wouldn't say that this one is specifically challenged in that department. It does feel like a longer scale neck because of the body shape, specifically the fact that the strap button is at the 15th fret instead of 12. Quote: |
Can you please tell me about the tone/ feel? What would you compare the tone to?
| The feel is incredible, this neck is phenomenal. I LOVE playing this bass. Sound is great, it has a little bit of a boost in the upper mids to my ear, I think it's a result of being hollow. It can hit a lot of different tones. It does the Motown vibe really well with flats on, it does the Jack Casady type hollow body sound, it can get agressive when you dig in with rounds. It has a fairly bright slap sound with is tamed a bit by the rosewood fingerboard, but still pleasant. Very versatile bass. Quote: |
How are frets / electronics / truss- is it noisy?
| The body is 2001 or 2002, IIRC. The neck was replaced under Warranty in Fall of 2009. Since then it's been wearing TI flats, as a result the frets show virtually no wear. The truss rod works flawlessly. It was plek'd at the factory. Right now it is nearly straight, very little relief, and I get no fret noise with a medium touch over the bridge pickup. There is no hum in any mode, passive/active. There is a little bit of noise when switching between modes, but not enough to really bother me. Pots are silent.

I've been jonesing for an orange ASAT until I saw yours. It's out of my league at this time, but someone is going to be a real happy camper. Best of luck.
