OK, this just isn't working for me. So, for all you 'Bird or 'Bird-curious folks, this ad is for you......

Late 80s Greco Thunderbird. Mahogany all the way. Set neck. Serial number starts with 89. Sounds great, looks great, maybe a half dozen small dings, no real buckle rash. The screws on the 3-point bridge are a bit chewed, but aren't they all? Comes with both a new Gibson T-bird case and the cheesy Japanese gig bag (or I can throw the cheesy gig bag in the trash and save you the hassle....) Nice bass that is in excellent condition (not mint, but really, EX+) that plays great.

Here's the rub -- for me, it plays great when I'm sitting down. When I stand up, it just won't work for me. I added a strap button at the heel of the neck and stopped the neck dive, but it's ergonomically weird for me -- both the right hand position and the left hand reach. I've had left wrist problems so that might be a contributing factor. I LOVE the sound of it, and I'll play it if I'm just hanging out, but I wouldn't dream of gigging it cuz it just feels way too weird, at least for me.

The boys who know Gibson-type axes say $850 value. I got a good deal on it, so I'll take less than that to move it along to a good home. Since it needs to go, make an offer in the general ballpark -- as long as your offer isn't insulting you'll probably get it.

As for trades, up or down is fine and I'll add cash for the right axe or amp. I prefer fours rather than fives (see left wrist comment above). I'd consider US Fenders, Gibsons, Lakies (US only), very early G&L basses, maybe even a EB/MM, Ampeg tube bass amps or tube guitar amps of any stripe, guitar or bass cabs that are 16 ohm (need something for my Ampeg B-25), US made guitars...

I'm not interested in Warwicks, Ibanez, Frankenbasses, strange pointy axes, solid state amps, bass cabs (unless they're 16 ohm)....

I had one of these a while back. Greco makes an amazing TBird copy. Mine was superb in every way, and would give a Gibson a run for the money.
