Mid 90s USA made HAMER Cruise bass in "Mary Kay Blonde" finish, a fairly rare color, with a rosewood fretboard.
De-fretted some time in the past; the original de-fret left the metal tangs of the frets in place. Previous owner (Bongomania) had the fingerboard professionally trued and planed very recently, and they had to replace a few of the highest fret tangs with maple fretlines. The board has been lightly oiled with bore oil, but not lacquered/epoxied, and it has a nice feel.
The neck is quite shallow front-to-back, and the string spacing is narrow, so it plays very fast. The electronics are the original stock Basslines active J pups, with passive V/V/T harness.
The tuners are a brand new set of Hipshot Ultralights. Also the bass overall weighs 9.5 lbs, which is rare because these 5-string Cruises are almost always over 10 lbs, with the big 2Tek bridge.
It balances perfectly! The pickguard is missing and there are a couple of small chips in the finish, but the neck is true, the action is low and clean, and everything works perfectly. It has a warm tone with a zingy upper end.
Most Cruise basses that I have seen recently have been selling in the $700-$750 range,
