FS/FT: Hanewinckel Draken 5-String w/ Nordy

Sign in to disble this ad
Testing the waters with my Hanewinckel Draken 5-String. Here are some specs:

34" Scale
Alder body w/ Walnut Top (Draken body style)
3-piece Maple Neck
Pau Ferro fingerboard w/ Abalone dot inlays (MOP inlays on side)
Abalone logo inlay on headstock
3/4" string spacing at bridge
Nordy Big Singles pickups
Nordy 3B-5b preamp (Volume-Blend-Passive Tone-Mid (pull frequency selector)-Bass/Treble stack)
Dunlop Straplocks
Hane bridge
Gotoh tuners
Built in 2009
Comes with TKL 8536 hardshell case and Hane leather strap

Preamp Volume is push/pull for Active/Passive, and the Passive Tone control also works in Active mode. Mid frequencies are 400 Hz (in down position) and 1kHz (in up position). I'm also pretty certain all the wood is quartersawn. There are some light surface scratches on the body, but nothing that couldn't be sanded out. Pete suggests using Howard Feed-N-Wax to maintain the oil finish. There are some dings shown in one of the pics, and there is another ding on the back of the body on the neck heel (this pic will have to come later).

Asking for $1,400 shipped in the lower 48 States. As for trades, honestly, I really want a StingRay 5 HS as I think it would be just right for my band.

This pic was taken before the ding on the heel occurred

This shows the bass in the TKL 8536 hardshell case

These dings are from one of those silica gel packets inside the gig bag coming open. I should have taken the packet out.

Thank you, Aaron.

Here is the pic of the ding on the heel I referred to in my original post.

That was me....ol' wimpy boy checking in.

Take my word, the necks on these things are unbelievable. Best sounding 34" B I've heard!

Best wishes on the sale / trade!

Riis

UPDATE: I recently acquired another active 5-string bass (until now, my only other bass was totally passive), so I was able to compare the preamp noise between the two. I've come to the conclusion that the Nordy pre in my Hane is too noisy, so I'm currently in talks with Nordstrand to see if we can get this figured out.

I figured any potentially interested parties would want to know.

Adrian from Nordstrand wanted me to send pics of the control cavity so he could see if all the ground wires are hooked up properly. If he doesn't see an issue in the pics I sent, the pre will likely go back to Nordstrand for repair or replacement.

The guys at Nordy didn't see any issues in the pics I sent them, but my guitarist does guitar and amp repairs, so I'm going to have him take a quick look at some point soon.

Bump. My guitarist didn't find any grounding issues, so the preamp is headed back to Nordstrand today.

Your Elrick is a darn fine bass, but I'm not sure it's really "right" for me. Does that make sense?

On a side note, I noticed I still had the StingRay 5 HS listed in my op, but I have one on order already.

Yeah, kind of like dating a porn star. They sure look good but not quite marriage material.

Just wanted to post and say that Nordstrand still has the pre and hopes to ship it back to me before they head out for NAMM.
