FS/FT Ibanez BTB-1205 Prestige - many pics

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi folks,

For Sale or Possible Trade SOLD shipped to Canada or US Lower 48. Shipped from Canada.

Ibanez BTB-1205 ENTF Prestige

Purchased NOS last summer from 12th Fret, Toronto(one of the most prestigious vintage guitar shops in the country). Looks like the BTB Prestige has been discontinued now.

- 35” scale 5 string
- 19mm spacing at bridge
- Neck through construction
- Flame maple top / mahogany body / maple back / matching flame maple headstock
- Custom Bartolini pickups and quiet electronics (3-band preamp seems identical to NTMB USA with mid frequency selector switch)
- Satin silver Gotoh tuners and Monorail IV bridge
- Prestige neck with abalone fret position inlays, dual truss rods, really good sustain
- Neck dimensions very similar to Lakland 5-strings, maybe a touch flatter radius (very comfy)
- Beautiful & Minty shape except for rub/scuff mark on lower bout, upper side, 2" in length. Was there when I purchased it. No other issues whatsoever.
- Prestige plush HSC in exc cond.
- Still has plastic on back covers.

Balanced response and volume from string-to-string, with extremely versatile tonal options. Can go from a very legitimate P-bass sound (with neck p/up soloed) to a more modern and aggressive one for slap. Thick AND focused with balance centered and both p/ups on. It has the original Elixir strings on it with plenty of zip left. I haven’t played this bass much as I have 3 other basses.

Buyer will be very pleased with this bass. I would put it right up there with a US Cirrus (used to own one) but with more booty. Very well built bass with boutique features and quality but at an extremely good price.

Job loss forces me to be practical and only keep stuff that gets regularly played. Tough choice, as I've owned a BTB-1305 but think the BTB-1205 is a better bass and looked for this for a while. Unfortunately this bad-boy Ibby must go.

Not really looking for trades right now BUT if you have: Lakland Skyline MIK 55-01 or 55-02 / Yamaha TRB 5II / Fender MIA P5 / Fender MIA Jazz-V Deluxe, (must be exc. cond) we can talk.

Check out the BTB club here on TB and find out how much folks are enjoying these basses.

Bump for an awesome bass from an awesome shop - 12th fret is a world-class joint!

I appreciate the offer, but that sixer would be a bit too much for me. I have played them before in stores and if you're in the market for a six string, that would be an excellent choice. Well made. Yamaha doesn't know how to build a bad bass.

I' ve played one of these before. Great sounding bass. I like the Barts pick ups on it.

Hey, a local bumpkins. Thanks Snake!

Re the pickups. Yes, Bartolini has done a lot of work with Ibanez, Lakland (and other boutique bass makers) over the years. He is notoriously secretive about the configuration and construction details of his pickups. Let's just say that these Barts are very much like the USA Barts but have been customized for the BTB's unique mahogany construction. Great warm sound with big booty and bite.
