FS/FT Kingston / Kawai 70's Japanese Hollow Body - Burst w/ Binding 30" scale

Sign in to disble this ad
Early 70's (71 - 73) Japanese made Hollow Body Bass. 30" scale

Currently strung with Fender Flats that have to be at least 10 years old. Super dark and thumpy sounding, just like this bass should sound. Rotary 3 way pup selector, volume and tone. Has some finish cracks and checking as should be expected with a bass of this vintage. bolt on neck is a very nice, almost V profile and fits very comfortably in the hand. Bridge pup is currently not hooked up, but all wires are there and has been de-soldered and not cut. All original pickups, wooden spacers and pots. Neck truss and bridge adjustment mechanisms worked freely and cleanly. binding is all tight, nothing coming loose.

I personally have never seen another one of these, so I would guess that it's pretty rare. This thing is an absolute looker, I just have multiple hollow bodies and only need one.

I will ship double boxed and packed to withstand the travels.

250.00 shipped OBO Paypal or USPS MO

Trades are open to just about anything. I love Japanese basses and P basses will always get my attention, but feel free to throw any trade or cash offer my way.

Adding a few more pictures and answering some PM questions that maybe others may want to know as well -

I was asked about the frets. This thing has worn flats since I have had it and I got it with flats on it, and I'm assuming it almost always has because the frets are in excellent condition. The action is just a touch lower than medium, because I tend to dig in when I play the stuff I play on this bass (IE walking stuff, I, IV type country stuff and blues), but the bridge adjustment wheels work just fine and the action could easily be lowered if you desire.

This does have older Fender flats on it, but on the short scale, the tension is very light, and has a really "chewy" feel to the strings.

+1 for using "chewy" as an adjective.

Bump for a beautiful bass I don't need.

Thanx Doc -
If you decide you might need it, I might be interested in that Peavey for it.
