FS/FT Marco Jazz Bass 5

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got this in a trace recently. It's a great bass, but now I have two 5 string jazz style basses - and this one's tighter spacing (17.5 I believe) is just not working for me.

Ash body, Myrtle top, Maple neck (vintaged) and Tiger-wood fretboard (gorgeous in person BTW), clear pickguard. The pickups are passive and sound great like a jazz bass should. Scale is 34 1/2", weight's around 10 lbs.

There are two dings that I've taken pictures of and are below, other than that bass has slight wear (e.g., some scuffs on pickguard) from use, but is in overall very good condition.

For a sale price, since there is a bit of wear on her, let's do $850 shipped CONUS. As for trades, 5 strings only please - and no jazz style basses. Other than that I am open to offers, but am really looking for a 5 string P style. Also, while I am willing to trade down for the right bass, I have no money to add to any deal.

free bump!

Great basses folks, and Marco is a great person (funny guy!)
This looks a lot like the first Jazz he built for me... Might be the same!! Here's a clip of my old Marco Jazz:

Thanks DannyR for the clip - not the same exact bass (no f clef inlay, dif. top) but the sound is right on. Great JBass tome on these....

Is there a battery in this bass? If not what is the small cover for on the back?

No battery. Since I'm not the original owner, I cant vouch for its purpose, but it seems to be so that if one wanted to install a pre-amp and battery later on, life would be easy - something I've considered myself.

Marco puts battery compartment in back if you want to add pre-amp.
These are great basses.

If anyone is turned off solely on the small string spacing...it seems that there is enough fingerboard to accommodate a 19mm bridge....at least from the pics. Gorgeous bass by the way. Good luck

What are the controls on this? Vol/Vol? And the two toggles (if I'm seeing them correctly)? Is there any kind of tone control on this?

It's Volume, Tone and the switches turn the pups on/off (one switch for bridge pup, one for neck).
