UPDATED - FS or FT: Modified Lakland 55-01 w/ P/J Setup *Price Drop*

Sign in to disble this ad
Shipped CONUS or Trade - now $825, new trade options below

This is an awesome bass and it quickly became my main player. Great tone and plenty of tonal options. All 5 strings sound great and balanced - whether played finger style or with a pick (and I've not experienced that on many basses).
The band mates love it as do I. However, I have a customized beauty arriving soon from TB's very own Rob of A.B.C. fame (syco_bass) and I am endeavoring to simplify the lineup.
So ...

The P/J setup provides the best of both worlds. I moved to 5 strings relatively late in the game but it’s been a smooth transition and I have to give Lakland props for that. The bass is very, very playable and the tone is as clear as clear can be. The Lakland B strings have been described as having piano clarity and I can’t argue with that.

I picked this up recently from another TB’er so what follows is paraphrased from his description.

The bass listed here started life as an Inca Silver 2008 55-01 purchased brand new and plekked directly from Lakland in October of 2009.

> Brand new Nordstrand NP5 professionally installed at the same position as the US BG5 by Tina at The Bass Exchange in Los Angeles. She also installed a bone nut.
> The pickguard was custom made and it is held on by the pots and a little bit of double sided tape. No screws holes!
> Taken to Pat Wilkins (Lakland’s painter) for a matching headstock. While he had it, he dropped in a brand new Nordstrand BigSplit in the existing route.

One thing to note: She sounds amazing, but she's a big girl - 11.2 pounds. Personally, I like that (as Freddie Mercury sang!).

So that's what it is. A 55-01 professionally modded to a P/J setup (and what has been called a 55-57).

$825 shipped

Thanks! I just want to see the routing of the P, if it bass needs the pg to hide some routing or not.

The flicker link now includes a photo sans pick guard. I was pleased - the P install was very clean and the body is prestine. However, it also is as I expected - the P replaced the the stock hum/soapbar so that cavity is there and there are the holes representing the stock knob config.

Are all the Pot holes still in the same places? So you could take it back active if you chose to?

Apologies for butting in here:

Here is a pic of the route. No additional holes were drilled for the stack knobs and none for the pickguard. The holes are original factory, the battery box is still there and the original routs are intact, minus the additional rout needed for the P pickup.

I would buy this bass back if I had the money.
