FS/FT: Modulus VJ w/ AAAA Quilted Top and U-Retro

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale or trade is my gorgeous Modulus VJ.

It's the deluxe version with a AAAA quilted maple top, sienna finish. It looks insane in person. Alder body, graphite neck, phenolic fingerboard, you know the one...except this one has been upgraded.

I've installed a U-Retro Deluxe preamp from John East, as well as a Hipshot detuner. When I did, this bass really came alive, and it sounds amazing. Many people I've played with tell me it's my best sounding bass, and that's with Sadowsky, Kinal, Linc Luthier, and Hamer basses in my arsenal. The preamp was installed by Craig Landau, an incredible tech here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Because of the size of the preamp, a battery compartment was routed separately, as well as the switches. There is a matching battery cover, and the work was flawless and entirely shielded.

The bass is in great shape for a 2001. No major dings or scratches. There is some light scratches and nicks, but they're not bad at all, hard to capture on camera. It's one of the ones that have the dual-action truss rod, which works great. It comes with a mint condition hardshell case.

I'm asking $1850 or best offer. Please don't hesitate to PM me your offering price if you're interested.

I'll offer it for a trade of close to even value if the bass is to my liking. I'm interested in 5-strings with 34" scales. Particularly interested in Pedulla Thunderbass, Kinal DK5 fretless, or something with a PJ setup that I could use with flatwound strings. Let me know what you have.

Wow.good thing this doesn't have a maple board. I would be forced to buy myself another Christmas present.

If it had a chechen board and a satin neck I wouldnt dare let it go, especially if it had a P neck pickup.

As far as Modulus VJs go, this one sounds killing with the upgraded electronics. The mids are really alive in this bass, unlike how it was with the stock 2-band Bart preamp.

That really is a beautiful Modulus VJ. I don't think I've ever seen one that was quite so pretty!

Bump for a real looker.........

I've got the same bass in same color (without the upgrades). Someone will be very happy.

I'm leaning toward keeping this bass now. If you're seriously interested, PM me, but no gurantees.

BUMP! Considering neck-thru 5 string fretted basses, or the right fretless 5. If nothing of interest comes my way I'll hold on to it--this is a GREAT jazz bass!
