FS/FT: Most beautiful Lakland Darryl Jones on the planet! Made in USA.

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a very rare custom one off USA made Darryl Jones bass with humbucking Chi-Sonics. It plays like a dream and sounds similar to a Decade bass but with a little more growl probably due to the fact that the neck pickup is further back. It comes with a custom JRetro preamp with coil taps. This makes it a very versatile sounding bass. Not only are the single coil sounds useable here but preferred in many instances depending on the style of music. Condition is near mint with no dings or dents of any kind. Asking $2500 plus shipping by paypal echeck. I'm mostly looking for a straight sale right now as I'm only letting it go to upgrade my mixing studio (might consider a trade that involves atleast a grand in cash). Hurry. This one will likely never be produced again as the the DJ line has been discontinued and as far as anyone can tell this is the only U.S. DJ with Chi's ever made! This wil ensure that it will hold it's value over time.

Specs:
9lbs. on a trusty digital UPS scale
Sonic Blue (Swamp Ash)
Birdseye Maple Board
Pearloid Blocks and White Binding
Humbucking Chi-Sonics
Pearloid Pickguard
j-retro preamp with factory installed coil tap
Original Lakland Hardshell case included

Abe, How the Chic's and J retro fit in the Latin Christian music? I am looking for a bass that will be used exclusively for this type of music: Marcos, Jesus Adrian, Calvetti, etc.

I'm the original owner of this bass, and all I can say is that it is one of the greatest basses I have played. If I could've justified keeping it, I would've. Whoever gets this will have my envy forever

What's the deal with the battery cavity directly under the bridge on the back? Does this affect the sound at all?
They keep making bridges with more mass for added sustain, just wondering if cutting a chunk out of the body directly under the bridge would affect anything.

That's were Laklands put them. I have one of their active basses wit the same pickups, and it has killer tone. I think the idea of have a lot of mass on the bridge it to help transfer the vibration to the wood body.

agreed 100%....the small cavity does not effect the tone....and the bridge is EXACTLY as you say.....
