The original documentation from Mike Tobias states that it is maple, but it is incorrect... Mike personally confirmed that it is an ash neck over the phone. Also, from the grain/appearance of the wood, it is pretty obvious that it is an ash neck.

I don't have a highly accurate scale, but my travel scale says it's approx. 9.5 lbs. As I mentioned earlier, the balance on this bass is great - no neck or body dive. If you take your hands off the bass, it stays exactly where it was.
