Still available... this is an awesome bass at a great price point. Anybody who is wanting to flirt with a low B string should pick this up.

Inevitably, a bass that I'd like to move on has come up for sale. That being said, I'm motivated to move this one out. Willing to entertain reasonable offers.

How do you know this is ASH? Do you have paperwork that says so?
Thanks

I don't have paperwork saying so but here is my reasoning.

First, I was told by the dealer when I bought the bass that it had an ash body. When I purchased this bass in 2007, I specifically asked for one with an ash body with trans blue finish. I was told that may not be possible because the body woods had been changed to basswood. I got lucky and was able to get mine with ash.

Second, by looking at the wood grain it is clearly different than that of new Kingstons with basswood bodies (see attached photo from The Perfect Bass).

Lastly, if you look at the MTD Kingston page at Bass Central, you see that some are described as having an ash body.

For the first few runs of these basses, they were made with ash and then transitioned to basswood. I would guess that material cost was the prime driver for the transition.

Looks Ash to me.. T-40 Sunbursts had the same grain... if it's heavy as a boat - would be a good indication.

Not heavy at all... but still ash. The density of ash can vary a lot.
