This is a special one. MTD USA 635 FRETLESS WENGE NECK with EBONY BOARD and matching headstock!!!

Tulip burl over poplar body. The tone is organic and you can get everything from Jaco to upright.

It is a 10 Top Equivalent burl with matching headstock (both upgrades).

This looks like it may have the hand-rubbed finish (not sure) in a gorgeous RED.

EBONY Board (serious upgrade) over wenge neck (another serious upgrade).

No Case but this one will be packed in a double box.

Well MTD fretlesses are a thing unto themselves and where I don't normally go in for the compression of wenge neck on a fretted bass, somehow on a fretless is adds so much extra focus to the fundamental. This one has the highly sought after EBONY cap on the wenge!!!!!! The body wood and top wood and a perfect blend for a fretless. The voice of this instrument is superb and the playability even better. A bass like this in the hands of a master like Kevin Woods, now that would be a thing of beauty to behold with the ears.

Thanks for the kind words, HP, but when I think of master I think of Charles Mingus and John Coltrane....and Herbie and Jaco... That being said, your description of the wenge/ebony combo is enticing to say the least. I am driving down to the Low End this Monday, so we will see what happens!

Wow...ebony on wenge...sounds like a great combination for fretless. What's the history on this one/how long have you had it?

I have had this bass about a year. Never gigged. I am just thinning the herd to pay some bills. This is the only ebony on wenge that I have ever seen. FANTASTIC fretless.
