This is the peach one. Rumor has it the peach ones had an alnico pup and a better preamp. Plus, they are harder to find! I have played some OLP instruments in the past and was not very happy with the playing experience. The TBer I bought it from assured me that this was above and beyond your average OLP. He wasn't kidding. I bought this with the intention of having to need to upgrade the pup and preamp ASAP to get a good sound...boy was I pleasantly surprised. Sounds great as is, but I did get a SD MM3 preamp to put in it. Was debating about a Nordstrand MM pup, but waiting as of right now. The bass is pretty flawless, if not mint. The TBer I bought it from has it setup with ultra low action, thing just sings! Plays great, string spacing is a bit closer than what I am used to playing on other 5s, perhaps 17-17.5mm.
Wouldn't mind keeping it but I think I have fell in love with Tbirds. A Thunderbird is probably the only trade I would consider right now. I could throw in a Peavey Fury Pbass with upgraded pots/jack/orange drop if that would make the deal sweeter. Or how about also a Genz Benz Shuttle 12 cab? Could add cash to the right Bird as well. Would be great to find a 5 string, but I know that might be difficult. Prefer the newer bridges, but beggers can't be choosers
Going to ask 450 shipped with the SD preamp, and 360 shipped stock. I don't have a case/bag for it. If you are looking for a five string Ray on a budget, this is it!
