This bad boy is 100% original (paint, pups, pots, no broken or re-soldered joints, bridge tuners, pickguard matches headstock serial, etc.) and is strung up with Labella Flats for that nice wooly thump.
Plays great, tons of life left on the fretwork, action is low, pickup output seems very good (I have not measured it though). Body has finish wear (a.k.a. mojo) but all components are in amazing shape otherwise.
The pics you see below show a hipshot d-tuner installed. I plan on selling it with the bass but also including the original tuner along with it. I can re-install the old one before shipping if you prefer.
The neck is very straight, nut width is 1.625", the truss works properly and the tuners are very smooth. This is just one of those rare P's that make you realize why everyone raves about vintage P's once you play it. It's the real deal and has mojo for days.
Comes with a vintage but not original HSC. Case works fine, but the center latch is busted. The outer two lock securely and are safe for use.
You won't find many old P's with this finish. Most are natural or sunburst. Also of note is the fact that this one has a maple neck and fingerboard AND a skunk stripe on the back which I've been told is also fairly rare.
Price is $1399 plus actual shipping to CONUS. Paypal accepted. If you're local to Boston I can give you a slightly better deal if you pickup and bring cash.
The only trades I'm considering are even trades on like new 2008/09 Fender American Standard Precisions in Sunburst/Tort with Rosewood FB, '62 American Vintage Precision RI's in Sunburst/Tort, RIC 4003's in Maple or Jetglo, an Aguilar AG500 head, or a Thunderfunk TFB550-B.
