FS/FT Peavey T40 Black/Maple, Made in America!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

Let me start off by saying this is my first classified ad here on Talkbass, so if you have absolutely any questions regarding whatever I'm selling feel free to PM me about anything.

Up for sale/trade is my beloved 1987, Made in America Peavey T40. I picked it up from another TBer (Keano) and have loved it since I first started playing it. 80's Peaveys are some of the most underrated instruments ever. Alas, I am still young in my bass career and I want to try other basses out.

When I received the T40, there were a few issues with playability. The tuner for the A string was missing a screw (as shown in the pictures, it has been replaced), and there were a few set up/action issues. It has since been professionally set up and plays like a dream!

I'm primarily interested in selling, but all trades will be entertained! If you'd like to offer anything at all, feel free to throw it at me! Worst thing I'll say is a polite "no thanks". If I decide to go for a sell, I'd be using the money towards a Lakland Skyline or a Peavey Cirrus, so if you have either of them and would like to work out a trade, feel free to PM!

Sales price would be $350 $300 otherwise.

I'd like to stay local in the MD/VA/DC area if at all possible. My girlfriend lives in Knoxville, TN, and I travel there fairly often, so we may be able to work something out there as well. Even if you're not local, feel free to offer and we could work something out!

If you'd like additional pictures, feel free to PM me with a request!

There are a few scratches and nicks, the most prominent of which is on the back (probably from belt buckle abuse):

This bad boy is still available. Keep offering your basses/moneys/miscellaneous junk! I love getting PMs and feeling loved.

No shortage of T-40's available on the board right now! Someone should grab 'em all and start a collection. Or a museum dedicated to the most underrated USA-made vintage instruments.

This man speaks the truth. I'm all game for a donation to the "Peavey isn't for Beginners" Museum.

I made a trade offer, yet to be accepted. Maybe the same trade and a little cash? I own a natural (8M serial number) T-40 and a white one. Now wouldn't a black one just make a great trio?

Hey all, PMs responded.

I've decided that I'm going to focus on an outright sell for this baby, I am really GASing for a Peavey Cirrus 4 string. Feel free to keep throwing trade offers at me though, I will always entertain them!

I'm bumping this bad boy up, to answer a few questions:

No hard case, but if you'd like I could include a soft case with the original manual.

Also, price dropped to $300 because the T40 needs a set up and I don't want that to come out of any buyer's pocket.

I remember this bass! I owned it a while back. I looks like it may have the same strings I left on it. This is an amazing bass. Someone needs to buy this bass before I consider buying it back! :-D

Thanks for taking care of it! I absolutely love the flats on this baby. Just doesn't really work with my current band, which is a darn shame.

Let me know if you feel it calling

Have a few offers, but the T40's still on the market!

If you're local and want to try it out, feel free!
