FS/FT Peavey TL-Five Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Peavey TL-Five bass guitar for sale $425 + shipping.
Beautiful transparent cherry red finish that shows the wood grain. Neck through body construction. Active pickups. Gold hardware. In good condition except missing one knob and the truss rod cover. Great studio bass - records incredibly well.
Comes with matching Peavey hard shell case also in good condition.

I'm selling because I've never been able to adjust to a five string - I'm going to stick with four stringers.

I prefer a cash sale, but I won't rule out the possibility of a trade. Things I'm looking for are a four string bass of equal value or Little Mark amplifier. I already have a nice vintage Fender so I'm looking for something different - either something else vintage or something with easier access to higher notes (like a 24 fret bass), or something with more growl in the tone. I'm willing to pitch in cash if you have something of greater value.

If you have something to trade and you're not sure - ask me anyway. The worst I can say is no thanks.

Please note that I'm also running this ad in the local Craig's list so availability may change without notice.
More pictures available upon request.
P.S. Pictures on this ad for some reason look splotchy. The actual finish on the bass looks much nicer.

I got my first TL-5 (VFLs in mine) a few weeks ago. WOW!! I was amazed at the tone. For being a wider nut width, it feels very comfortable in my hands.

Thanks to everyone for the PMs. Some very interesting basses to say the least.
For those that requested more pictures, I've posted some here:
http://pdgood.us/tl5/
The first link on that page called Parent Directory goes to my drum websites. The rest are of the TL5.

I'm trying to make the best deal I can and be fair at the same time. I have a very good cash offer which I will probably take in the near future unless an irresistible trade appears. If the cash deal falls through then I'll be looking at the most attractive trade.
Thanks for the replies and patience.

Thanks JPG.
I don't know what VFL is. They say Super Ferrite on them.

VFL pickups are the ones used on the second generation of TL-5 basses. Since yours say Super Ferrite on them, they are (obviously) the Super Ferrite pickups, which are the first generation of TL-5. The VFL pickups are now used on the Cirrus series.

I have had both Generations of the TL-Five. The Super-Ferites seem to have a Hotter Sound than the Silky Smooth VFL's. The SF's seemed to be a bit more sensitive to the Left Hand for Vibrato, and sutle accents than the VFL's also. Both Gen's played AH-MAZE-ING!

You can generally tell by the number of knobs/switches. The SF models have 5 or 6 knobs/switches.

The VFL models just have 4 knobs: Master Volume, Blend, Stacked Treble/Bass, and stacked Mid/Mid-freq Sweep.
