FS/FT Pedulla Buzz PRICE DROP

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is my Pedulla Buzz 4 string. Got this in trade for another bass but fretless isn't really my thing. Cosmetically, this bass is pretty rough. There are several chips in the finish, some of which were painted over, or "repaired", by a previous owner. It is also missing the truss rod cover on the headstock. The fingerboard finish is very worn as well. Definitely a bass with a lot of playing time on it. I have tried to take a lot of photos so you can decide for yourself if the condition is acceptable for your needs.

This has dual J Bartolini's with a Bart preamp and a detuner. It will be shipped in a hard shell case that is in similar condition to the bass itself.

Price is $699 or best offer, U.S. shipping included. I will consider trade offers for this. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

Edit-I did finally receive the truss rod cover for this. It will be included in the sale. Thanks!

Added a couple of additional pics. Interestingly, these pics were in the initial post, but just showed up as html code. After several attempts at getting them to work I realized that the google link location included a randomly generated vulgar 4 letter word. After I made the post Talkbass automatically changed the word to a string of asterisks, invalidating the link. Had to make and save new copies of the pics to get a g-rated image location. Learn something new everyday.

Holy cow you aren't kidding about that description. Amazing that anyone would treat a Pedulla that way. How's it sound? Mwah for days or not so much?

I don't have a lot of experience with fretless basses, so I can't make much of a comparison, but I think it sounds good. The only other one I have played is a very cheap Yamaha. Naturally, this Pedulla sounds and plays better. I would have to say that based on the condition that it is in, someone liked the way it sounded. You probably wouldn't put this kind of mileage on an instrument that you didn't like. You know what I mean?

I did a little research and based on the serial number this bass was built in 1983. I contacted the previous owner and he said that he thinks he has the truss rod cover and can get it to me. I will post if and when I receive it.

Good point. The Pedulla website quotes $575 for a complete refinish in any color they offer, including the fretboard and a new logo.

this is getting tempting but we're having a postal strike over here
by the way, the action looks pretty high on the photo, is it really that high?

Sorry to hear about the strike. I measure the action at about 4mm at the end of the board. It is a little higher than I like, but I haven't wanted to take the time to set it up for myself. Thanks for the question!

If it were a shortscale and the weight was less than 7 lbs I would buy it....especially now that the postal strike is over.....

There was an old red Buzz at GC last year in strikingly similar condition. I remember wondering HOW anyone could treat such a fine instrument with such seemingly little respect! So bump for wondering if this is the battered beauty I saw in Manchester, CT.

This one belonged to my bass instructor out here in Phoenix for several years.

I had that exact same pedulla in the exact same finish color. There was one big long chip down to the wood along the bottom where someone obviously dropped it on its can. But it was perfect other than that.

I can say from experience that this J/J style pedulla sounds awsome. It does indeed have mwah to spare. I used to run mine through a Mesa D-180 and a 4x12 bass cab. I could nail any Claypool tone with it.

It looks as though the epoxy coating has completely worn off the fingerboard?? Or is it just an illusion?

Hmmmm... tempting. I just got home from Yoshi's jazz club in Oakland, hearing Mark Egan play a Pedulla 5 fretless, along with Michael Franks. (Awesome date!)
