Hello everybody out there in Talkbass world! After achieving a longtime dream of picking up a vintage P Bass Special I have found that it is time to recoup some funds so I am putting my other two basses up for sale! Both of these basses are at my current place of work ( Guitar Center ) getting set up by our tech to insure that they are ready to go! For your consideration....
#1 $450 Shipped
This is a 1994 Fender FotoFlame P Bass with tons of mojo. Dings and necks are all over this guy, it has had a lot of fun over the years since it was made. Nothing affects functionality or playability, it is solid as a rock and ready to go for many many more years. When I purchased this bass from a fellow TBer it had a pearloid pickguard. I swapped it out for a Black one and added a thumb rest. The original pickguard will be included, I just have to find it in the studio (around here somewhere...). Loaded with Duncan Basslines (my new favorite aftermarket PUs, sounds fantastic!) . Currently strung with some prototype D'addario nylwon wound strings but will come with a pair of sealed Rotosound Swing 66's , I'll put them on if you'd like otherwise if you want to try the nylons I'll keep them on, pretty weird and definitely different from any other string I've tried. Comes in a Fender HSC that works just fine. ** The thing on the horn of the bass is a glare **
#2 $375 Shipped
This has the electronics that were installed in the late 60's Italian made Vox's. Based on my research I believe the electronics are from one of the Vox Astro IV basses. It has a built in preamp, a built in fuzz distortion, as well as the classic G tuner! All electronics were checked over and work perfectly! Tone Monster and a ton of fun to play! The neck is the skinny paddleneck with the original Vox serial plate. The pickups and knobs in this bass are from a vintage Gibson bass, not sure exactly of the model but they are easy to recognize. The body of the bass was custom built aftermarket with the traditional teardrop shape. I like to think that someone has an original Astro, ruined the hollowbody somehow, and then decided to take the parts , fit them into a new custom body and load it up with some Gibson electronics from another bass they had. Like a funky Phoenix rising from the ashes erupts this one of a kind, fully functional , gigready sweet machine! After purchasing it I bought a universal Gator bass case for it.
Other things to know:
The electronics cover for it was obviously custom routed out of some kind of a plastic, it fits over pretty well but does not perfectly fit in. However, with the padded cover that is snapped on I have had no issues with anything coming out. Tuning mechanism works well, this bass has been restrung with some brand new slinkies to snap it back to life.
As far as trades I'm not really interested in trading as I'm only selling to recoup funds, but offers are always fun to go through. Any questions or extra pictures just let me know! Thanks for looking!
