FS/FT Rare Warwick Streamer CT (chrome) SOLD

Sign in to disble this ad
sold!!
plus shipping within the Cont. US.
2004 Streamer CT with "white chrome smooth finish"
bass and case are showroom new,
Orig thread:
FS Only: (2) Warwick Steamer Chrome Tones, Charvel 3B, and Custom Fretless

neck is a slightly too chunky for me,spacing is too close at the bridge for me..
I may be destined to play only J basses,Sterlings and Bongos, who knows?
I sometimes try to experiment with various companies,
Warwicks are pretty hot right now,and I saw this and "had to have it"..
Decided that she's not the right vibe for me..

All case candy, orig papers, trs rod tool,Allen wrenches & Warwick tags, key, case is also mint
Tiger ebony Fingerboard, instead of Wenge, like the Streamer LX has,
this is an LX with upgraded fboard, inlayed chrome/pearl control knobs, chrome hardware,pu covers and chrome covered body.

There were different color Chrome Tones,as well as "riffled",ripply ones too,
from what I have heard, only a tiny handful of 4 string Streamers were sent to the US in this finish.

..out of the box, she's set up like a freshly setup bass.
feels incredibly playable,I didn't expect such a fresh, springy feeling setup.
I was planning on having it set up,leveled etc by Norio Imai, like I do with most of my new basses,
but It felt like it was just freshly setup, super low action, zingy new strings,(The orig. Warwick 105-45)
Tone is clear, deeeep and modern, nice preamp, passive mode is very useable,

she's very precise,low action,close spacing,nice,taught tension,great for quick stuff.

I tested her for a few minutes, 2 or 3 times,
mostly, I just open the case and stare at her.

although the nut width isn't wide at all,it's super narrow.
the neck feels way different from my Jazzes & MM's,
I've come to the conclusion that I'm a MM guy,
..their spacing, frets & general feel just feels soulful, and right in my hands.

This bass feels really quality, and the tone is deep, clean and growly..
But the ergonomics of a Warwick just feels too unfamiliar to me,I love the looks and the tone is very cool,
but she's just not for me, I can tell.

I'll let this remain in new condition, and let a Warwick lover enjoy her..
I'm still GASing for another Metro, and an FBB Custom, maybe another Bongo,SR or Sterling HH.
I can't afford to keep stuff around for collecting purposes,or because they look hot.

If I do trade, I like 4 string fretted only,
or 6 string fretted with narrow nut widths,(must be less than 2 1/8",prefer closer to 2")
Sadowsky Metro 4's,Sterling 4HH,SR 4HH or Bongo 4HH go directly to checkout!

NYC area ,test drives for serious only,as I want to keep her unscratched.
good luck and thanx for looking..

What's the specs ... string spacing @ bridge, width @ nut? (anything else you can think of too )

The feel of the neck is "chunky" ... chunky like a "P" bass OR chunky like a bat?

I just can't stop looking at this bass!

The neck is DEFINITELY not a baseball bat,the nut width is narrow, same as a Sadowsky jazz.
she's a hair over 1.5" ..and less than 1.6"
she's not a handful,in fact, I won't touch anything over 1 5/8" in a 4 string..I can't get near a P bass with a 1 3/4" nut width..

but she feels just slightly thicker than a Jazz up high, not like a real fat P neck,I've seen a couple of those, not near that.

The shape is just different,I guess I'd describe her as slightly chunky, but not obviously huge or bat-like,not at ALL.

This wasn't a major part of the issue for me,it was an all-over 'feel" thing.
There were various ergonomic issues for me,the texture of the wood neck seemed very unfamiliar to me...
and the frets were higher than what I'm used to.
To me,my Bongo and Sadowsky J have a slinky, soulful feel to them, maybe lower frets?..
I like to slide around,get slinky..bottom line,it's a "vibe" or feel thing.
this bass has jumbo frets,24 frets,a different pu configuration and bridge from anything I play,
I'm also very picky..I don't play Ric's,or Thumbs,or wide necks,long scales..5 strings...

I played J basses for 30 years, and recently switched to Bongos.I really bought this to try and branch out.
But I knew the risk before buying her,I have had trouble with every other Warwick I've played before.
I'd Hoped this was going to be different than the Thumbs & 'Vettes I've tried before.

This Warwick IS: quick, and precise, clear and powerful,
but seemed more for modern music, less of a rootsy groove bass, more of a hard rock, slap bass, progressive or funk machine..IMO
it just feels a little too"unfamiliar" in my hands..

I think I'm GASing for something in particular, and I jumped the gun on this beauty,I was mesmerized by her good looks,I also like to experiment with various brands..that's how I discovered EBMM and Sadowsky.

but I MUST say,the setup is great,if u like low action and quickness..and the tone is clear, growly and just wonderful.
(everybody sez that,yeah..but it's true,it sounds expensive..the tone is very inspiring,I kept sustaining these long open E's and just enjoying the tone)

So ... it's just about 8.5 lbs.

Since Warwick's basses each weigh a bit different (even the same models) ... it'll most likely weigh between 8.5-9 lbs.

Hope this helps.

(as you all can tell ... I just can't stop looking at his bass. BUT since I'm OCD enough ... I'd spend way too much time wiping the darn thing down. )

She's somewhere between 8.5 and 9 lbs,

She's too light to register on my bathroom scale.
So I weighed myself first,at 146,
then I weighed myself and the bass together,
which read 155.

My scale is digital, and doesn't do half pounds or decimals.
so that probably means anywhere from 8.5-9lbs ?

So I guess Warwick's specs were pretty accurate.
