FS/FT: Regenerate Guitar Works Axiom 5 w/custom Nordy pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
I deleted the old thread to make a number of changes in the new one.

If you are not familiar with Regenerate..You are in for a treat. Check them out at Regenerate Guitar Works. The build quality on these are unbelievable. I have two Nordy's on order. So, I need to clean house a bit. So, here we go.

2010 Regenerate Guitar Works Axiom 5. Master Grade Claro Walnut top with a nicely grained swamp ash body. The figuring on the top is way more stunning in person. Followed by a very nice birdseye maple neck with pau ferro fretbaord. 34" scale with zero fret, 1 7/8" at the nut and 19mm (adjustable) spacing at the bridge. Fresh setup and set of DR Low Riders installed. 9.2lbs. There is one small ding near the output jack that I could not catch on camera. But want to make sure there is no surprises when you get it. The rest of the bass is flawless.

On to the electronics. This is where it gets fun. The pickups are a custom Nordy Big Singles...Here is the explanation from the builder:

"The Nordy pickups I use in my Axiom model are a wind based off of the Bart shaped Nordy Big Singles. Custom winding is done with the same wire to achieve a similar ohm rating. Essentially these pickups are similar to a slightly over-wound set of Big Singles, and have as much copper wire as can physically be fit into an EMG sized shell. The pole pieces are identical to Big Singles, but the EMG sized shell makes for these to be slightly wider that a Big Single, and this allows for more area of the string that is sensed

forgot to note that the pole pieces are also aligned in an angled fashion on this pickup design, so the string response from low to high is more even than your standard perpendicular alignment"

HUGE sound with a nice bite. This thing is a slap monster and then if you solo the neck pickup. It takes on the character of a 70's P. Very versatile. The preamp is a Nordy 2 band wired vol/blend/tone (pull up for passive) and treble/bass stack.

New, this bass is over $2800. $1699 shipped in an ultralight case. Open to most any "interesting" trades. 5 and 6 string basses only. Partial to Nordy. Gear: Thunderfunk, GK MB Fusion or Streamliner 900 +cash on the gear side.

I am confident any buyer will love this bass. I will give you a 48hr trial period with it. Once you play and hear it. You will love it.

Now for the pics!

Bump for an amazing bass and a great TB'er!
I played it at the Mid GA GTG earlier this year and it is a tone monster.

How is the neck profile compare to the Nordy VJ's? The one I tried was a more shallow flattish feel.

It is more similar in feel to the vJ5 Modern profile vs the vJ5 Classic. The radius is 16". So it is flatter than a vJ5 Classic at 9"-12". The Moderns are 12"-20". It is almost like a cross between a vP5 and vJ5 Modern

I keep coming back to this post. This is one of the best looking basses that I have seen in a long time. Good luck with the sell.
