Roscoe SKB 3005 Dark Red USA s/n 5089
Lacewood top and back.
Tiger maple tone plate.
Birdseye maple fingerboard.
maple/purple heart neck.
12th fret black inlay
Bart pickups (classic)
3 band bart preamp push pull mid selector.
Purchased used from Atlanta Bass Gallery in April 2007. this bass cured a viscous cycle of G.A.S. for the last 7 years.
It's very hard to find any blem but I won't call it mint. I'll give it a conservative 8/10
There was a part of purple heart grain that I could feel with my thumb that I had professionally repaired a few years ago. The area around it is less shiney. At first glance this would appear to be finish wear, in reality it's just a different finish.
I'm not happy with the pre-amp. The treble section is not quiet enough to use full blast. If I change my mind I'm going to put an OPB3 in it. I never use the treble knob up full blast. But I thought I'd mention it.
Some of the tuners kept coming loose during string changes so I took off a couple washers. The problem went away.
The main reason I'm letting it go. It's too heavy for my 40 year old shoulder. My bathroom scale shows it a crack under 10 lbs.
1.) It must be equal or lesser value. I'm not interested in adding money on my side.
2.) It must be a higher end active P/J
3.) It must be black. (for nostalgic reasons)
rosewood fb maple neck
matching black headstock.
The Perfect trade:
Black gloss Sadowsky pj fv 5 24 (jazz or p blackguard) with matching head-stock.
Price is firm until I see another listing I can't live without.
What's it weigh ?
My crappy analog bathroom scale shows a crack under 10lbs.
I wish bump....
Sound clip bump.
When I hook my amp to my computer it has a squeal so I had to record it off of my practice headphones. It's homemade by a friend and does taint the tone. It looses some high end so this recording doesn't fully do the bass justice but it should give you a rough idea of the tones possible.
The strings are Elixir which are not the greatest.
Which pan position was your favorite?
FS/FT Roscoe SKB3005
Bump for a beautiful bass.
Price drop to $1,975. I looked through my records. I paid 1,992.57 shipped when I bought it.
Would my fretless Roscoe 3005 be more interesting? It's lighter. I don't play it very often,
Yes, very much so. Post the details if you would.
its very light. Much lighter than this fretted. As a result some neck dive.
Burl top, spanish cedar back stained Roscoe Red. a beautiful contrast.
Diamond wood finger board barely any wear.
Aluminum fret lines.
Bone nut? it's white.
Action so low it should be illegal.THE lowest action I've ever played.
Nordstrand Fat singles.
Glockenclang three band preamp. pull volume passive
Dunlop dual straplocks
barely any dings. even on the back, there are maybe three and they are all on the bottom.
It was purchased in 2008 here on tb. Also $1900 + $75 Shipping. The first one that sells gets the Roscoe Ultra Lite Case.
The only issue I have with it is that the treble know center detent is weaker than I prefer. Its still there but you have to turn slow to feel it.
These nordstrand fat singles do not deliver a fender type tone when centered. The roscoe pickup placement just doesn't allow it. It sounds like dual coil centered but with less emphasis on that characteristic. Basicaly it still sounds like a Roscoe.
these pictures are from when it still had barts.
I'll take some better pictures when its light out tomorrow.
I love the red stained back basses. The backs of Roscoes look almost as good as the fronts.
Do you still have the Barts by chance?
The barts that were in it were classics, not the roscoe version. I don't know a lot about the difference.
They are currently in this red fretted. They could be swapped out.
I'm starting a new thread for this. I'd combine them into one per forum rules if I could edit the thread title. It looks like the admins don't allow it.
That's awfully close to what I'd like in a fretless.
