FS/FT - Skjold CS6 - Damian Erskine Pre-signature Bass

Up for sale is my Skjold Custom Shop 6 string bass. First, here's some interesting information about the bass. When I took ownership of it, Pete Skjold was kind enough to share some background information about it. After its build, Pete loaned this bass to solo bassist Damian Erskine to get an idea of what Damian wanted on his Skjold Signature bass that Pete was going to make for him. Of course, later Pete came up with the Whaleback design for Damian. Pete also informed me that the pickups on this bass are a product of his collaboration with Kent Armstrong, the famous manufacturer of pickups used by top bass manufacturers such as Lakland, Celinder, Conklin, Benavente, New York Bass Works, and Eshenbaugh.

As you can imagine, this bass sounds incredible. At 9.32 lbs., it is light in weight for a 6 string. The famous Skjold tone is there in spades. The reason I'm selling it is that I'm retreating back to 4 and 5 strings. Someone needing a finely crafted 6er will be thrilled with this bass.

The condition of the bass is exceptional. I cannot find any flaw, ding, or scratch of any kind. It's as if Pete just handed the bass over to me at his shop.

Specs:

- Spalted maple top with matching headstock
- Spanish Cedar body, high gloss finish
- 5 piece maple/rosewood (or bubinga?) neck with satin finish
- Rosewood fretboard with zero fret
- Kent Armstrong/Skjold pickups
- Skjold preamp: vol, blend, treble (pull for extended treble), mid, bass, sweepable midrange, pickup selector control (bridge pickup only, neck pickup only, both pickups in parallel, both pickups in series)
- Black Hipshot hardware
- Dunlop locking strap system
- Recessed locking input jack
- 35" scale
- 9.32 lbs. on my postal scale
- Skjold labeled gig bag

$2,500 shipped to the lower 48 states. Cash is king, but I will entertain trades. Mainly interested in 5-string J-type basses. USA Lakland, Nordy, Sadowsky, Fender CS, Alleva Coppollo, Lull, FBass, etc. I'd also be open to a 5-string Skjold. Plus cash to you or me as needed for a trade.

Thanks for looking!

Previous owner

Freddy-G bought this bass from me (and I miss it!). It is an all around incredible instrument and the only reason that I sold it is because I'm not much of a 6 string player.
Good luck with the sale!

Thanks, Craig. It IS a special instrument. If it isn't sold or traded here, I'll most likely keep it. I respect the craftsmanship that went into making it too much to put it on eechBay or CL.
