FS/FT: Spector Rebop 5 - EMG P5's - only 7.4lbs!!!!

Amazingly light Spector Rebop5.
Originally was a natural finish but was refinished with a dark stain by previous owner. The finish is dark stain on the front and a lighter redder stain on the back. I added a couple coats of Gun Oil finish to it to keep the finish from scuffing and to protect it a bit. I prefer it with a bit of shine to it.

This is a gigged and played bass. The finish is not perfect, and the bass has some bumps and rubs on it, but no deep damage or gouges. You have to look to see the flaws and the photo's are an excellent example of it's condition as with all the basses I sell.

• Yes, this only weighs 7.4 lbs on a digital scale. Amazingly light.
• Has 2 strap button holes on butt of bass which does effect how the bass hangs on you depending on your preference.
• Has stock Spector Inlays on neck
• The bridge shows a lot of use with the black wearing off.
• The headstock has a couple indentions shown in the photo's.
• The back of the neck has been refinished with an Oil/Wax finish ala Musicman basses.
• It has 2 EMG P5 pickups that are only a couple months old. ($200 upgrade)
• Has a Tonepump preamp WITH the trimpot which allows you to dial the output up or down per your preference or to match your other basses. Capable of insanely hot output if dialed up.
• Dunlop Straplock buttons installed on bass.
• Currently strung with Dunlop Stainless strings. Can include a set of barely played D'addario Chromes, as well as a set of Ernie Ball Coated Slinkies cut for the bass, which is what I normally played on it.
• I have a brand new Kaces polyfoam case coming to ship this in to the lucky buyer. ($59)

So with $250+ of upgrades to pickups and the brand new case...
$595 Shipped and insured.

Trades: only things I'll consider are...
Bergantino HT112ER (HD112)
TCHelicon Voicelive2
+/- cash depending on trades.

A tad on the first couple frets, but nothing bad. Just a simple fret polishing would probably take care of most of it.. There is no buzzing or such when playing. The setup is low and can go lower. The neck is setup with less relief than a normal Fender setup and can go straighter. Truss rod is fine. Tuners work great and hold tuning fantastic. Everything on the bridge works fine.

I do all my own fret work. If buyer would like the bass to have a fret leveling and recrown prior to shipping it, I'm willing to do that. But I do not feel it's needed. I'm picky about it myself and I've noticed no problems with how the bass plays.

I believe the bass is around 2003/2004'ish.

And... just for info's sake. The only reason I'm selling this is that prior to having 2 Spector's I had a Musicman Big Al 5 which apparently I undervalued my relationship with. Recently I found a local deal here in Nashville for another Big Al 5 and it quickly established itself as the alpha bass over a couple weeks of gigs.

Me and you dig similar basses bro. I'm rocking an EBMM SR5 and am waiting for the right Spector to come along to try out. I had a neck thru and it was a fantastic bass but I'm a bolt on kinda guy.

Not sure if I have the extra cash for this one but if I can make it happen, I will.

GLWTS.

I'm with you. "I" personally think the bolt on Spector's are special. They have a crispness, punch and snap to them that the neckthroughs have less of. To me the neckthroughs seem somewhat muted overall by comparison.

It's definitely a compressed tone to me. A lot of players dig it. The construction on my CRFM5 was top notch but all I've ever had is bolt on and that's the tone and feel that I'm used to and like.

Hows the fingerstyle on this bass? I don't slap. Any.

It plays smooth and has a meaty fingerstyle tone with the crispness on the high end that the TonePump inherently throws in. "To me" this one sounds kind of MM Sterling'ish but with the expected Spector vibe. Sounds similar to my Big Al 5 in "all up series mode" which sort of emulates a Sterling's Ceramic Humbucker vibe. But it just depends how you adjust the Vol/Vol. It can go smoother with the Neck P5, or punchier with more ofhte bridge P5.

Tentatively sold to "stasboroda" and once paid (and new case arrives) will be starting it's long trek to mother Russia, barring any problems.
