FS/FT: Squier Protone V, super clean!

I just got this in the hopes of upgrading the heck out of it... but am having second thoughts. It's a great bass, maybe it's too clean for me to do what I wanted to do initially, I don't know. But the fact is, I'm not sure it's what I want...

1996 Squier Protone V
34" scale
19mm spacing
About 10 lbs
Ash body
Beautiful maple neck
Clean rosewood board, very minimal fretwear
Gold hardware with minimal tarnish or "silvering"
No damage to speak of
Vol-vol-tone
Strings are new-ish and sound nice
No case or bag.

It's a super clean machine. The pickups are the same size as EMG 40, so options for upgrades are limitless! The neck is nice and straight, action can be set low and it sounds great.

$225 + shipping, PP or MO.
PM if you want a shipping quote and include a zip code.
I can ship neck off for less cost, just so you know.

As for what I'm after for trades...
I'd like to find a project, something nice that needs love or is kinda ugly. 4 or 5 string, 34" scale.
Fretless maybe?
A CV Jazz or VM77, perhaps.
A baritone guitar or bass VI style.
PM with what you've got! Let's chat.

NO SX or RONDO BASSES, that's for sure.

Sexy bass bump! I'm not normally a fan of gold hardware, but I think it really works with that particlar shade of red... Real classy like!

That's a wicked looking DAJV! I love those basses and yours is extremely nice... but the spacing is about the same as this, and that's kind of why I'm not in love digging this, personally.

If someone is after a Deluxe Active J V, Steve's got a really nice bass there. GLWTS, man!

Hi Rojo, sent it to you last night but it wasn't in my sent folder. I resubmitted and made sure it went. You should have it this time.

Thanks.

Really? I thought the protone 5 used the same neck as the Squire Precision 5. I had a Squire Precision 5 like this:

(early 2000's vintage) and the neck was wide enough to land a 747 on. I'd be surprised if a relatively recent Squire Jazz 5 had a neck (and string spacing) as wide as that.

Bump, good luck with the sale.

The DAJV has a 2" nut and 19mm spacing. It could easily be made 20mm if needed.
Same with the Protone.
