FS/FT: STR Vintage Jazz Bass 5 String. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! MUST SEE!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm selling/trading my beloved transparent white STR Vintage Jazz 5 string bass. I have two STR Jazz basses and the other (with 60's position pups) fits my needs a little better. It sounds amazing as you can hear in a clip included below (passive mode, mostly bridge pickup, with tone rolled down halfway). It plays and is built as good as any USA Fodera, Sadowsky, or Lakland. Cosmetically it is a 9.2 out of 10 as it only has 3 dings also pictured below. As for trades I'm pretty open to anything fretted with 4 or 5 strings. Let me know what you have.

TRADED

AUDIO CLIP: http://www.box.net/shared/zs2q15bki0

SPECS:
Weight: 8.75lbs exactly!
34" scale
Trans Blonde Ash Body
Maple Neck and Fingerboard, 1 7/8" nut
Custom STR Single Coil Jazz Pickups in 70's position
Bartolini TCT Preamp (Volume, Pan, Bass & Treble Boost, Tone, Active/Passive Switch)
Custom STR 06 Bridge with 19mm string spacing
Custom STR/Gotoh Tuners
Nice non original gigbag is included.

this thing sounds phenomenal!! Is there any hum from the single coils when soloed? Also, what material is the nut? Thx

The nut seems to be bone as it is kinda yellow and not white like most plastic nuts but I'm not positively sure. The bass is shielded well so the single coil hum is minimal when pups are soloed but it's still there. In most places you won't notice it but in a few it is noticeable. There was very minimal processing done in the mix and I'd agree that it does sound phenomenal!

ditto... How can I get a copy of the whole track and or cd etc...? Can you give a little info on how the bass was recorded? Just curious. Bass sounds as good as it looks, nice playin' too.

It was recorded in passive mode with the Pan about 70% toward the bridge pickup and the tone about halfway down. Hope this helps.
Very helpful. Wish I could make a move on the bass. I've had my eye on it for while. GL on the sale.

Any interest in a trade for a Dingwall ABI- 5 string?

Does the tone work while in passive mode? That thing's beautiful, and sounds great in the sound clip.
