Hey all,
I'm looking to sell or trade my '97 Tobias Growler. This was my only bass through college and my twenties and its versatility is extraordinary. I made the move to five strings about two years ago and while I've liked the idea of having a four string around for slapping and changes of pace, I'm just not playing this one anymore and I'm thinking its time to start saving for the Quantum 5 I've been lusting after.

It's virtues: incredibly versatile, massive range of tones, the lightest bass I've every played by a long stretch (my Sandberg 5 is an anvil by comparison), in very good condition (only the slightest of scratches and one paint splotch on the outside of the head that could probably be easily removed).
Yes--Gibson made growlers have a mixed reputation--but this thing is easy to play, sounds great in a lot of unique settings and overall is a perfect bass for someone looking to stretch the value of this purchase.
Note-the images make the red look a little more "cherry" than I think is accurate--there's a touch more "burgundy" to the shade.
The versatility is a result of all the controls you have at your disposal and I found a great diagram of them here:
1997 USA Made Tobias Growler (note). Original quad-coil Barts and gig bag in great shape.
Nut width: 1 5/8. Asymmetrical neck makes this thing feel and play faster.
Asking $540 shipped to CONUS, but again would consider trades. I wish I had more direction for trade possibilities, but I don't--get creative! I would consider 4s or 5s.
Thanks for looking!!
