FS/FT Tobias Standard 6- RARE!!

I'm telling myself I'm trying to purge myself of gear... I have an early Tobias Standard 6 available. I am the original owner of this one. Purchased it new in 1992. This was my first 6 and main bass for at least 10 years. On the MTD site, Mr. Tobias makes reference to this basses. These basses were kind of the pre-cursor to what we see with the Sadowsky Metros and Lakland Skylines.

There were only 400 of these total. Quote from the website: "...and then we got the Terada factory in Nagoya, Japan to make the "Standard" bass for us. This was and is a great bass, but the $/yen ratio killed the project. There were about 400 Standards".

Final assembly was done in California by the Tobias team. If I'm not mistaken here are the specs: (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Body: Ash
Neck: 5 piece neck thru with Rosewood fingerboard
Scale: 34"
String Spacing: 17.5mm
Pickups: Bartolini
Preamp: Bartolini TCT (mid control in cavity)
Tuners: Grover

It's got some "beauty marks" from being a real bass used for real gigs. I really couldn't photograph it, but there is a long scratch on the back when it fell off a stand (no breaks or physical damage, just a scratch). Tomorrow, I can probably get better pics with outside light. On a scale of 1-10. I would rate it a 7.5 at worse. I've probably played well over 1000 gigs with that bass and it NEVER let me down.

This bass is more for trade than for sale. I am looking for the following

Millenia TD-1
5 string 34" jazz style bass with maple board
Cash price: $1100

Not in a hurry, just really have used this bass much in the past few years. It needs to be played.

I know it's only January 2, but this will probably end up being one of the ten best deals onTB this year.

Actually, I won't be the deal of the year. Believe it or not, my WIFE, said I should keep it. Was kind of upset that I was gonna sell it.

I took it out yesterday for a gig and remembered why it was used so much.

Hey, I have the same bass with a clear coat. Bought it the summer of '92. I can't imagine living without it. Beautiful sound from high to low!
