If you look at Tom's website it would suggest that the pickup's have been changed twice. The ones in the pictures above are not the same as the ones on Tom's website AND the OP claims they have been swamped again to Bart's.

That's exactly what happened. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. For what a I wanted tonally, the Barts were perfect. Heck, they ARE perfect. This bass certainly is not being sold because I don't like the tone.

Nice. I'd love a lined fretless 5 string. I'd string it E-C for more range soloing on jazz gigs.

Well dang, we're not going to be "bass brothers" anymore. #270 is almost done.

I'm sure it'd sound great either way

We will in spirit! The plan as of now, is to order another Clement down the line that will be absolutely perfect. I can't really see myself going with any other builder for a fretless at this point. It just sounds, well... perfect, haha.

By request, here's a quick and dirty clip. First run is the with the pan in the center, next is the neck pickup and finally the bridge pickup. I'll be putting up another one later.

SuperBrother - Clement 231 2 oct Dmaj - Tindeck MP3 Download

Honestly, I can't stand listening to them. I LOVE the way this bass sounds... just not how I sound playing it. But I did want to give you guys an idea of what it sounded like.

So Kwesi, the sound samples were done with the current pickup config and tapewounds?

Ok, stupid question if I missed this. The top....is that redwood? I really dig the sound...and I still wish I was in position to play this beast for a moment or two. All the best...
