FS/FT: TUNE 5 string

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! Tune Guitar Technologies 5 string bass guitar Indonesian made, not the $2000 Japanese model. But still an EXCELLENT player.

Two humbuckers, 18V preamp with tons of controls including: individual pickup volume micro pots and mid-scoop micro pot inside on the PCB, and standard volume, balance, bass/mid/treble active EQ. Using my trust Stanley tape measure, seems to be 1.75" at the nut, 18mm string spacing.

Recent professional setup with excellent intonation, brand new DR Sunbeam strings. Great strings, highly recommend them.

This bass plays excellent, looks awesome (check out the grain on the wood top), and most important sounds awesome. Most powerful low B string I've heard. Gets compliments and questions wherever it goes as they're rare and unusual.

The body is natural oiled wood. There's minor (normal) visual wear and dings, minor tarnish on the bridge, and a couple caps on the knobs are missing. Absolutely nothing significant, unusual or particularly noteworthy, and nothing the next owner would complain about. But it's been played and isn't in perfect, showroom, like-new visual condition anymore.

SALE: $450 OBO Or trade towards/for a quality 4 string bass.

Forgot to mention, no international sales or trades. Sorry.

What's the bridge string spacing and nut width on it?

Year and location of build?

Body/Neck woods?

* I'm the second owner. Bought it from a guy in his late 50's but I didn't inquire about year of make, etc.
* Nut is 1.75"
* Made in Indonesia as I believe all "Tune Guitar Technology" instruments are.
* No idea on year, but it's probably at least a handful of years old. Maybe more? I have no idea.
* Looks like it's probably 19mm bridge spacing, but note I only have an old tape measure which seems to indicate .75" spacing string-to-string
* No idea on woods or any of the other answers to your questions.

Tune's come with virtually no data physically on the instrument other than the headstock badge and serial number on the back.

You can try to learn more here, but probably won't as their website is poor. http://tuneguitars.com/ Back when I bought the instrument I actually emailed the company and gave them the serial number asking for more info. All they said was it was made in Indonesia and to enjoy the instrument, or something along those lines. Here's the serial if you want to give it a shot. S040711324

Some Indonesian Tunes seem to be better than others. I've played a few that were very close to the "good" MIJ ones; this looks like one of those.

Have you got a weight measurement? Thanks

/rick

In all seriousness it's been my favorite bass to date. Plays easy and sounds great. You can get a nice crisp high end, and easily get nice smoothness by rolling off the high which doesn't make it muddy, it simply kills the crispness like it should.

I wish all manufacturers put pickup trims on the PCB. Makes it easy to balance pickup output, tame hot outputs, etc. Seems like a no-brainer feature. I wish the G&L L-2500 I owned for a while had that.

Weight seems to be close to, but slightly more, than a MIM fretless Jazz. Sorry, the only scale I own is a 5lb kitchen scale. And an old Stanley tape measure.

Updated the listing with some more photos, and noted no international sales/trades. Sorry, my worldly bass brothers!

Just a quick fyi . . . as I'm trying to sell one of these too, in black . . . string spacing is 18mm, measured with a calipers, at the bridge. And the weight is 9.5 to 10#'s on my bathroom scale.

Good luck with your sale . . . seems no one wants one of these in black though as you've got over 4x the interest in a day then I've had in over a month
