FS/FT Univox 4001 Ric copy w/orig case $550 OBO

Had a serious case of Rick GAS....was looking locally at a couple and came across this...and liked it better..had a ball with it at home- played it a rehersal and remembered why I sold my other rics- Try as I do to love them- they just don't work for me...so putting this on the block.

Bass plays really well, truss turns both way. pickups all work as should but could use to be gone through with cleaner as the toggle and pots are a bit scratchy. Fresh strings on her...has stereo jack and all appropriate hardware. It's a pretty good copy. The neck profile is a tad different than a real Ric- but it feels very good- not crappy or cheap- kind of reminds me of my Ibanez musician neck. Back of neck has a nice flame maple to it. Bass is nice and light and in pretty good shape. Not much bad to say about it except I'm not a Rick guy...pickups as to be expected are a bit darker and a tiny bit more microphonic that my real Rics were..and for it to be a serious workhorse it would probaly benifit from having real ric or ric replacement pickups installed. but it certianally sounds good as is...it has real authority on the bottom end which is nice.
I'm asking $550 shipped and am willing to negotiate a bit depending on method of payment, shipping costs etc.

Tradewise I am pretty open- love 80's era stuff...run it by me.

Great looking bass!

I have an Electra that is identical to this bass (I'm guessing both made at Matusmoko) except for finish, and I can vouch for the description regarding playability, feel, and sound. Played mine with a pick last night at a medium-sized club gig (300) through an SVT cab and an SWR Electric Blue. Pickups were a tad microphonic, yes, but with big low end and cutting high mids. It killed! Someone's getting a sweet bass at a great price.

if this sale falls through, and you're willing to ship to Canada, I'd be glad to talk turkey...

I used to have one quite like this (almost thought it was mine as I traded it locally)... anyway, I can too attest to the description. Nice copy for someone wanting the Ric look and 85% of the Ric sound (the other 15% isn't bad, just a little brighter than you'd expect a Ric)... good luck!!! If you're interested in a trade, let me know!

Leigh
