SOLD!
This bass is about 3 years old. It was originally the VM fretless model, but I've added a Squier precision bass neck. I don't have the fretless neck anymore. The neck is from an early 2000-ish model but don't have the serial number for it. Neck is in good condition with no issues. I relic'd it by light sanding and coloring with shoe polish and linseed oil. Besides the neck, it's stock. The pups have been rewired/reconnected by a professional when re-installing the pups after relic'ing.
Overall I tried to make the relic'ing subtle. I wanted it too look like it was just played a lot, but without all the major "road wear" to it. Some relic jobs are just too much for my tastes. For full disclosure, it really needs a super fine sanding and buffing to complete the relic job. I needed it for some band pics, so put it together again. I decided I liked the dull-ish finish and from afar you can't see the sanding marks.
As for tone, this bass will be tough to let go. We all think our basses have "mojo" but friends have played this bass and commented "wow, there's something about this bass." It has a richness to its tone. IMO, it feels a bit heavier than other VMs I've played. I have no idea if that's the factor, but it tone is solid and full.
$200 shipped? I can include an MF carrying bag for it. It's nothing special, but gives you a way to carry it.
For trades, I'm mainly looking for a Boss ME-50B unit.
BTW, the G-Bass is long gone. ;-)
