This is a continuation of a
previous FS/FT thread. I decided to re-list this under this thread in order to offer the most accurate and up to date info on the bass. No trades at this point since I have secured purchases of 2 basses here on TB based on my selling my P-bass. Sale price is $1700/offers.
The pics here, and the first batch in the album link below, show the bass with the DiMarzio's. I have since taken them out and installed the originals. Other than that, the bass now looks exactly as it does in these pics, which were taken 6 months ago.
1972 Alder body, maple "B" neck. Most parts are original to the bass, to my knowledge. I am not a collector. I have owned the bass since 1996.
Here is an album of pics of the bass.
Some important info on the bass:
It weighs 8.3 lbs and is very very playable with nice smooth, low action. Last week I had my luthier check the bass out. He said the frets are in fine shape and the bass needs no work done to it at all. This bass has tons of mojo from years of regular use, yet it has not been abused. It looks and plays like a player's bass! There are several TB guys who have played this bass at local Get Togethers. Some have commented on the bass in the previous thread. I am happy to forward the names of these guys if you would like to hear from them about this bass's sound and feel.
The frets and nut are brass and are not original. Two of the bridge-to-saddle screws is not original. The replacements I bought yesterday are a very good match to the originals. Perfect match in length and color (stainless steel), very close match in head shape and size. Pics if you want them, just ask. I'll include the extra 2 (set of 4) if you want all 4 to match.
The input jack was replaced by my bass tech a couple years ago.
The pickups are original to the bass, but they have been taken out and re-installed twice by me. Once to try Dimarzio's 2 years ago, and once to try Fralins earlier this year. I took the Fralins out for this sale.
The bass is in perfect working order.
Click here for a sound clip sample that was recorded live in March of 2010. The song is Blue Monk, a jazz standard. You can hear the bass in the mix with the band, as well as hear how it sounds in a solo. Too bad the solo itself does not set the world on fire, but its good enough so you can hear how well this bass sits in the mix.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. Thanks for looking!
