I've gotten myself to a really good place gear-wise and sadly that place does not include two of my longest-standing companions. Off they go to new homes. Here's the first:
Warwick Streamer Bolt-On/LX 5
This was made as Warwick was transitioning from the short-lived Streamer Bolt-On 5 to the LX 5.
This is a player's bass.
- Let me say that again.
This is a player's bass.
I've recently refinished the body in a very dark walnut stain that appears almost solid brown/black to the eye. Up close you can see the a bit of the grain of the wood. Staining was done after filling in a number of dings and repairing some slight cracks in the body at the neck joint. The neck is 7-piece wenge and maple and the fingerboard is wenge. The body is cherry (I think...specs on this are hard to nail down).
After the recent refin I also managed to somehow drive the tip of one of the body screws through the fingerboard slightly. No idea how that happened, but I backed the screw out, filed it down and retightened it so that it's secure without protruding. You can see in the pictures where it penetrated through the fingerboard under the B string.
On the bright side, it's 100% functional and sounds great. I shielded both the pickup and control cavities with three coats of shielding paint and the electronics are nice and quiet.
Controls are:
- Volume (w/push-pull for passive)
- Blend
- Treble
- Bass
The action can go ludicrously low on this bass and it has the best B string of any 34" scale bass I've ever played. The overall tone is tight and even across all five strings with plenty of growl.
I'm starting out asking $800 shipped. I'd also be interested in trades for amps, cabs and effects.
Thanks.
