Ordered BRAND NEW from MF a few months back.
Have since scored my unicorn...A fretted Rick Turner Renaissance RB-4...so this is a dust collector...
Installed a rosewood thumbrest (yes, I used screws, and I use black decorative trim washers when not in use) above E-String between bridge and soundhole.
Taped off and used 0000 Steel Wool on back of neck to knock it down to Satin Finish. (Washburn lays the lacquer on these bad boys extra-thick, and my hands don't play well with gloss necks.)
Strung with D'Addario EXP Extended Life Phospher Broze Acoustic Electric Bass Strings (to the tune of $44 a pop!!), which KILL with the individual piezo saddles. This bass came from that factory with Electric Bass stings (felt like boomers to me) which sound good as well.
From the World Wide Washburn Web...
Washburn worked side-by-side with a true bass guitar legend to produce the AB40SH Stu Hamm Signature Acoustic Bass. The bass has a fully intonatable bridge, allowing for even intonation throughout the entire fingerboard. It's perfect for those who want tone, playability, and acoustic amplification without the intrusion of feedback. The acoustic bass features an arched spruce top, arched maple back, maple sides, and a mahogany neck for a full, balanced tone that swells from the oval soundhole and through the custom piezo electronics. The rosewood fretboard, multi-laminate binding, intonatable monorail bridge, and Grover tuners continue the strength in construction not regularly seen in an acoustic-electric bass crossover. The Washburn Stuart Hamm bass is equipped with the Buzz Feiten tuning system, a tempered tuning formula, which uses a compensated nut and saddle to correct the inherent intonation problems of the Western tuning formula. The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is standard.
