Well folks, the honeymoon is over, and after a month or so with this bass I've decided that as rad as it looks, it's just not for me. This is a Scarab model Wishbass #461 made in 2005. Oak burl top, birdseye maple back, maple neck (not sure what the laminates are, but I'm guessing walnut and pine), ipe fingerboard, bone nut and saddle, EMG Select Jazz pickup w/ single volume control. Comes with a generic Kaces gig bag.
The pickup is amazingly hot, even hotter than my main 4-stringer that has active EMGs and preamp, and as you would imagine it has a nice warm woody tone. It's a great bass to flip and I had great visions about how it would turn out, but with my busy work and gig schedule I just don't have the time to put into it that it deserves. Included are some pics of the 'unfinished' sections of the bass (open laminates, uncarved parts of the neck, etc.)
I have a few pricing options for this bass: $275 shipped to CONUS with the original hardware, $325 shipped with the gold hardware I ordered for it (Gotoh tuners, Schaller straplock-compatible All Parts buttons, string-thru ferrules, Warwick control knob, and custom-made hand-hammered polished brass control cover I made myself), or add $25 to either price for the orange DR Neons seen in some of the pics (otherwise, comes strung with DR DDT 45-105 strings). Paypal preferred.
Would also be interested in trades. Interested in a DeArmond (or Guild) Ashbory bass, preferrably black, but definitely not red. Feel free to run any trade ideas by me.
