FS: G&L ASAT, Tobacco Sunburst *Reduced Price!* I have too many basses and want to thin the herd to fund other gear purchases, so I’m starting with basses to which I’m not emotionally attached. The first is this beautiful tobacco sunburst G&L ASAT, with a black back and sides, natural wood binding on the body, and a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The frets are in good shape. In direct sunlight the finish becomes a bit more “sunbursty,” while indoors it becomes more “tobacco-ish.” Similarly, in direct sunlight the back finish is deep black, while indoors it is more charcoal black. As far as I know it is completely stock, except for the Dunlop Straploks and Hipshot Xtender that I installed right after purchase. It is strung with Dean Markley Blue Steel roundwounds, 45-105. I’ve had it set up, the fingerboard has been treated with boiled linseed oil, and overall the bass plays very well without buzzing (tastes vary, of course). There is no electronic buzz, and with the active bass boost you can thunder down the neighborhood with this thing. I bought this bass from a fellow TBer a little over two years ago and I have only played it at a few rehearsals and around the house, and once at an outdoor barbeque-type event. It is in excellent shape save for a scratch on the back and a “chip” off the headstock, both of which were on the bass when I bought it, and it’s endured neither further damage nor buckle rash since I’ve owned it. There is also a very small “dent” in the clear finish above the bridge, but it is so small (less than the tip of a pencil) and the finish so glossy that I couldn’t get the camera to zoom in and focus on it for a photo. It is best seen in the indoor photo. From the G&L website: PICKUPS: 2 G&L Magnetic Field humbucking pickups BODY WOOD: Swamp Ash on all Premier finishes NECK WOOD: Hard Rock Maple with Rosewood fingerboard NECK RADIUS: 12" (304.8mm) NECK WIDTH AT NUT: 1 1/2" (38.1mm) TUNING KEYS: Custom G&L "Ultra-Lite" with aluminum tapered string posts BRIDGE: G&L Saddle Lock with chrome-plated brass saddles CONTROLS: G&L Tri-Tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector, series/parallel mini-toggle, preamp control mini-toggle (off/on/on with high end EQ boost) FINISH: Tobacco Sunburst OTHER: Chrome hardware, no pickguard, Deluxe Hardshell Tolex Case w/Fitted Interior Comments from the previous owner: -It is made in the USA. There is no Tribute model of the ASAT bass. -It does come in the OHSC. -It is a 3 bolt neck as opposed to the 6 bolt. -I do not know what year it is, only that it is newer than 1993. For the bass (which will be clean), hardshell case (which will be vacuumed), Straploks (including the anchors and strap connectors), Hipshot (and original G&L tuning key), the price is only ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Any interest in trades? |
Hi, Arch58, Not particularly, but won't hurt for me to entertain anything. Certainly no basses, though, I'm trying to get rid of some. A fireburst Les Paul Studio 6-string might be on the horizon, or maybe a Jr., but probably for down the road. Right now, my focus is to sell. |
Holy god, that is great looking. Free bump! I will have an ASAT someday... |
Happy Easter bump. |
