Hey guys, I bought this bass from fellow TB'er GaryLC a few months ago.

In the time that I've had it I added a wonderfully versatile $320 Acg/John East Filter Preamp to it and had it professionally installed and I had my tech Shield the cavity. You can get many tones from Wal-esque (thanks to the special Ebony/Ash combo) to Dub and everything in between. As for describing the bass further, Gary and CraigB have done a far more complete description of this basses features and condition, so I'll borrow their words...

"This was a limited edition done by G&L for Badass Bass Players - 23 total made. This is Serial No. CLF46792, Model BABP-1, made in 2007, #14 of 23 made. All with #8 neck, blackburst finish (not generally available from G&L), and series/parallel/single coil switching. Single coil mode (in addition to the standard series & parallel) and the last ebony fretted boards out of Fullerton. A pleked #8 neck with satin finish and weighs in at 8.7 pounds."
"This very special Limited Edition bass will have 2 G&L Magnetic Field Design pickups, G&L Tri-Tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector for parallel/single coil/series switching (a stock L2K is parallel/series), preamp control mini-toggle (off/on/on with high end EQ boost), hard rock #8 )12" radius board, 1 1/2" width at the nut) maple neck, a fretted ebony board sans fret markers, but with side position markers, custom G&L "Ultra-Lite" tuners with aluminum tapered string posts, an incredible translucent Black Burst finish over a swamp ash body, and a painted black headstock with the BABP's logo at the end, all chrome hardware, with G&L molded case."

Bass is in wonderful condition, 9.5 out of 10, just general finish swirls. Plays like a dream, sounds wonderful.
For full disclosure, you can feel a hair or two of offset at the board/neck joint on the E string side. I wouldn't have even noticed it if I wasn't playing sloppily, and had my thumb wrapped around the neck. I talked to Ken Baker & Flash (the co-owner of Guitar Man who handled this run of L2K's), and both said it's a temporary contraction of the neck under the ebony board, similar to boards contracting on basses and causing fret sprout. In this case the ebony won't give, so the maple has contracted. It's gotten barely noticeable over the last two weeks, and may just have been reacting to the dry winter.....but I want to make sure there are no surprises!

So there you have it. A great bass that needs a home. It comes with all the accoutrements, including paper work, original G&L hard case, and the original G&L preamp. I'm not really looking for trades right now but you can always try me ;-)
(EDIT: NOW $1300 SHIPPED in the US). Money Order or Cashiers Check only please. I'm seeing US L2000's going for $1100 and they are the awesome but still plain, old versions. This guy is special edition, special wood, Filter preamp that you're going to love and a neck to die for!

Great L-2000.

How do the electronics work? I can see it doesn't have series/pararel/single coil swith and passive/active/active+treble boost switch. Thank you!

Thank You!
The controls are Vol/Blend, Treble Stack, and Bass stack. Because the preamp is always active, there is no need off the preamp off/on/on with high boost. Also, because there is a blend control on the preamp, there is no need for the pickup selector. The switch that remains is the Parallel, Single Coil, Series switch. So in one sense things are a bit simpler, but once you dive into the actual preamp controls, that when things become cool. The bass and treble controls are variable and interactive with each other so you can get a huge array of sounds! For a more detailed look at the preamps features check this out!

I have one of these and love it. Plays like a dream and sounds fantastic. I have other G&Ls but none feel like this one.

Good luck on the sale! Someone is going to get a really cool and rare bass.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah I think it has something to do with that quarter-sawn maple neck and the ebony fretboard. It's a lot different than typical G&L spec, but oh so nice!
And now....More pics!

I'm actually selling it to fund an acoustic guitar.....I know all of TalkBass shuddered just then ;-). Been feeling lately like I'd like to learn something new.
As for sound samples...well I hope this works. I had practice today and we recorded a clip with this bass. Sorry for the crappy playing, just trying to whip something up quick.
If you go to www.soundcloud.com and search morebassbaby (this G&L bass is my avitar) you should find 1 file. It was recorded coming out of a Phil jones 2X5 100watt combo, both pickups centered in parallel.

Entertaining trades! Would still prefer cash but would be interested in Sadowsky metros, US Laklands, or other similarly priced trades.
