FS: G&L El Toro Price Drop !

Sign in to disble this ad
Price Drop ! $800

For Sale: 1989 G&L El Toro with original tolex case, both in excellent condition. PayPal now accepted.

Transparent red (more of a burgundy), unmodified and in showroom condition. Has been lightly played over the past 20 years, normal surface swirls and 1 tiny ding on the back of the lower horn (see pics). Everything works as it should.

El Toro's (the Bull) are relatively rare and do not come up for sale too often. This one is in really good shape and comes with the right case which is also in great condition. I have not pulled to neck to verify the date, 1989 is what I was told when I got it.
I have not been playing it too much (my SB-2 gets all the love) so this needs to go where it will be appreciated.

$800 shipped via UPS or Fedex ground, CONUS only. USPS Money Order, cash, or PayPal.

Edited to summarize the following info added below;

Weight:
Digital bathroom scale consistently puts it at 9.8 lbs.
Control info lifted from an old post in the G&L forum:
Knobs: vol/treble cut/bass cut
pickup selector: neck/both/bridge
coil tap selector, sorta: both pickups tied together in series(defeats pickup selector/indivually selectable single coil mode
preamp selector: off/on
Neck width at the nut: 1 5/8"

looks like mahogany, do you know if it is? To me mahogany + the MFD pickups is a heavenly combination.

I have always assumed it is Ash. Was planning to put in a fresh battery, will try and take a peek at the wood color in the screw holes when I pull the battery plate.

Nice Toro, most definitely ash. I know there's a certain Seattle area TB'er who would jump all over this if it were 8.5 lbs. or less....

Gigged my 'natch '84 Toro last night, and it just ripped up the bar. Ballsy jazz bass only begins to cover the sound of these things, they have the deep/ bright slap tone that funk-monkeys have wet dreams about, and cut like a razor with a pick.

Same here: I can live without it but I must admit I would have been tempted.
