SOLD!!
Folks,
I've decided to let go of my El Toro, and one of my L2000's will also be up for sale next week. This is a lovely natural finish, I believe it's maple, with rosewood board, and black headstock. The bass is in very nice shape, some "dimples" here & there on the body, some scuffing on the black finish on the headstock. Black hardware is in great shape, but neck plate has some wear (see pictures). It has a chunk out of the headstock, it's not as bad as the close-up looks, it's about 3/8" long. The glossy finish has been nicely sanded from the neck, so it's more of a satin finish now...feels great!
Neck & frets are great, plays & sounds like a dream. Pickups say "G&L Bi-pole Pickup" on them. Serial number is B013782.
Weight is ~10.5 pounds, so it's not a lightweight.
Includes a really nice TKL hardshell case in excellent condition, nicer than a lot of G&L cases.
El Toro's don't pop up very often, so snag this while you can!
Asking $725 shipped....

I'm guessing this is an '84 - '85 bassed on the Serial Number.
The body looks an awful lot like Maple, which is a fairly uncommon body wood for this model. Mahogany & Ash were the Norms. Would explain the wieght!
Also the Black Headstock on a Non-Black bass means it's either a NAMM Bass, or custom ordered, assuming it's older than an '86:
According to G&L researcher Paul Bechtoldt, the black lacquered headstock face with a non-black body on this El Toro indicates that it was specially made for a NAMM Show and that G&L followed this practice up through 1986. However, according to Dale Hyatt, a black headstock could be custom ordered during that same time period. So, a black headstock is not a definitive of a NAMM Show guitar or bass.
Look out for The Bull Bump!

Had my 'natch on FleaBay for a bit, but have since grown a brain. Funny, mine weighs in at a shade over 9 pounds with an ash body, yours looks to be maple bodied.
BULL BUMP!
..........watchin' for that Tookay, too......................

I think the L1 is the ticket for me. If you want to call me etc. I left my phone number on the last PM
Cheers & Thanks! |
