FS: G&L L-2000 Tribute, Single Coil / OMG Mods, Great Wood

Korean vintage Tribute G&L L-2000 that is a few years old. Very light use. Call it a 9.5 out of 10. There may be some light swirls but other than that it is nearly flawless.

The wood on this bass is amazing for an import. The ash is nicely figured and the maple board also has some nice figuring. Weight is 9.6 lbs according to our bathroom scales which seems about right. Not excessively heavy, but solid.

I wrote a document on G&L mods that can be seen here. The bass is modded per section 7.

My Wiring Document

I have modded the 2-way selector switch with a 3-way (this is only a switch change, no change to the bass body). With the 3-way switch, one can get single coil along with the parallel and series modes. I also added the bass boost capacitors in the series mode (OMG) which G&L never did on Tributes and stopped doing on the American series about 5 years ago. This thing is wired like Leo intended the legendary L-1000, complete with OMG (oh my God) mode. The single coil option is the inside coils which take on a punchy Stingrayish sound and a little more clear than parallel. This is Leo's last frontier. The MFDs take on variations of the his former classics but with a strong sit in the mix vibe that is muscular and unique.

It was in the hands of a professional Luthier, my buddy Dan (Luthier Dan. He cleaned up some fret sprout and leveled a few uneven frets. This was not a complete fret leveling, but there were a few high ones that needed to be knocked down. The playability was greatly improved with Dan's touch ups.

Also, he widened the slots on the nut as I ran it BEAD for a while. It is presently set up with a new set of Hartke nickels strung EADG. To me, the slots being widened do not impact the setup with standard strings. There is a picture to see the nut.

I just pulled the trigger on a 5 string fretless SX and need to cover it along with some bills. I am more of a 5 string man these days. This is a great bass, I just do not play it as much as a bass should be played.

These things are going $699 on the street new. Without any wiring mods or fret touch up. I am looking for $450 shipped in continental 48. Comes with G&L gig bag in like new condition.
