FS: G&L SB-2

Hey Y'all,

This is a very nice SB-2 that I picked up here a while back and now is on the block because I have my eye on another bass that is currently listed here (the same old story).

The SB-2 has G&L MFD P-J pickups. The P pickup is amazingly powerful - massive output and to understand the sound start with a "traditional" P sound, add more lows, more highs, more clarity and more growl. It's a very aggressive and powerful P sound. In fact it overwhelms the J style pickup which is used more to add texture than anything else. Both pickups on full is a great slap sound (although I admit I am not much of a slapper).

One nice feature of this bass is the ebony fretboard - an option that G&L had discontinued (I think ebony is still not available on fretted basses but I'm not sure). It's a reasonable 9.0 lbs and the 1.5" nut width neck has the satin finish that I absolutely love. Molded case and COA included.

The controls have been modified to my favorite setup - stacked master volume/J-pickup volume in the front, tone in the back. That gives you an overall volume control, a control to adjust the level of the J pickup relative to the P and a tone.

The only flaw I can find on the bass is a hint of fret sprout (if you run your fingers down the edge of the fingerboard you can feel the frets) - not enough that I've done anything about it as I can't feel it when playing.

I'm asking what I paid for it and not counting the cost of the stacked control mod

$750 shipped in the contiguous 48, paypal OK

The only trades I'd consider are:
G&L SB-1 (1.5" nut width, satin neck, 8.5lbs or less)
G&L L-1000 (1.5" nut width, satin neck, 8.5lbs or less)
G&L L-2000 (1.5" nut width, 8.5lbs or less, satin neck)
G&L Trib JB2 (8.5lbs or less) plus cash

Yep, this is a US SB-2 so the only body wood choices were ash & alder in it's timeframe and given the black finish this one should be alder.

And a bump from me! I bought my very first G&L from Craig, it's a honey L2000....and I won't be parting with that either! (Famous last words)
I've bought three or four basses from Craig, always a terrific transaction, he's the man!

Widening the trade options slightly:

G&L L-2000 (1.5" nut width, 8.5lbs or less, satin neck)
G&L Trib JB2 (8.5lbs or less) plus cash
