FS: G&L SB-2 Blue Swirl (GandL SB2) USA

For sale is a very nice G&L SB-2 USA with the stunning, beautiful, and rare blue swirl finish. It has been a closet queen for about the last seven years. Cosmetically, this is a very clean bass and is functionally 100%. Plays and sounds very well.

Body: Small (.28 x .39 inch) chip on the front corner between the bridge and pickguard which is barely noticeable due to the black undercoat (inside red circle on pic). There is some negligible buckle rash on the back which and doesn’t even show up in the pics. I don’t see any fret wear. Minor play wear on the pickguard.

Neck: 1.5 inch nut width and 7.5 inch fretboard radius, which as far as I know makes it a #6 neck. Just to check, I turned the truss rod nut approximately three quarters of a turn both ways and it turned freely. 3 bolt micro-tilt mount. It appears straight to me, but I’m not an expert. There are a few very minor nicks on the headstock which are not noticeable from more than a few inches away.

Case: Original molded G&L plastic hardshell case. All latches, hinges, handle, and side straps in excellent working condition. All four “feet” have been pushed in, a common problem on this era of case. Otherwise, it is in good shape functionally and cosmetically.

I did not (and do not want to) remove the neck from the body but this was made around 1995-1998 or so. Maybe some of you G&L experts can chime in on when this finish was available. Serial number is B020XXX. Weight is 8.8 lbs. according to a bathroom scale.

I don’t have feedback on TB, but I have a 100% rating on ebay (4forosucowboys). If you have any questions, just ask and I will answer as soon as possible (I do have a daytime job that I want to keep!).

Sale Price: $725 or best offer shipped in the contiguous 48. Paypal OK.

Thanks for the offer but I'm not looking for a Jazz at this time. The one and only thing that I might consider for a trade would be a Genz Benz NEOX-112T cab + $$. Price is reduced to $750 shipped to contiguous 48.

Wow that looks killer! I've never actually had the opportunity to play on a G&L, and was wondering if the neck is closer to a P or a J? Is it passive or active? And also, the knobs are volume and tone, right?

I'm not a "P" or "J" expert, but I would assume that it should be more like a "J" neck, at least due to the string and nut spacing alone. It is passive and the knobs are volume/volume. The tone is also affected (in my opinion) by how open the volume pots are, i.e. running the neck pickup alone at "4" will sound a little different than at "8" or "9". Without a tone knob, it is still more than a two-trick (2 pickup?) pony.
