This is simply, an awesome bass and the nicest I have ever owned. So what is the problem? It's too modern-sounding for the alt-country / roots-rock that I do. Honestly, I'm better suited by my passive Laklands and Reverend where I can dial in a more vintage vibe.
Here are the basic specs:
G. Gould GGi4
34" scale
Alder body
Gloss black finish
Graphite neck - Rosewood
24-fret fingerboard w/ M-O-P inlays
1-5/8" nut width
EMG 35P/ 35TW pickups (pull-up volume knob for coil tap)
EMG 2-band preamp w/ balance control - 18v
Gotoh tuners
Hipshot O-ring knobs (aftermarket, will include original EMGs)
Hipshot bridge
Weight: 8.2 lbs
Roadrunner hard case
According to the prior owner (the first owner), Geoff Gould has not made any gloss black basses other than this one. This bass has an astounding clarity and precision of tone that's hard to describe. The playability is absolutely amazing - practically plays itself and makes me sound much better than I really am. It mates especially well with flats, IMHO. It's got two dimples in the finish on the lower horn and one on the top (near the pickups that I tried to photograph) that do not expose any wood, and a white scuff on the edge of the forearm carve that's about 2 cm long. Also sports the typical fine scratches that black tends to show.
$1350 including shipping (in the continental US). Comparable trade offers are welcome.

As founder and president of Modulus Graphite for almost 2 decades, Geoff Gould was the driving force behind many of the modern innovations which have become standard in the world of guitars and basses.
While at Modulus, he was responsible for the development of the stringed instrument graphite neck (patent #4,145,948), which is widely recognized as one of the most significant structural improvements in neck design in a generation. A wide variety of today's manufacturers utilize this technology, validating Geoff's vision.
He also pioneered the use of the 35 inch scale length for production basses. Being a bass player himself, Geoff knew that low B strings were too floppy, and in what seems obvious today, adopted the then-radical idea of a 35" scale into the heart of Modulus' production basses. |

PS - I'd be open to the right trade plus cash so that the total of bass value and green coming in would add up to $1400'ish for me.
Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all! |

I'm also open to a partial trade for a Mesa Walkabout Scout 12" plus cash or Markbass LittleMark Tube plus cash for the Gould.
Thanks! |

Nash
Lull
Sadowsky metro
Valenti
Fender Roscoe Beck iv
Four-string only and with a jazz-width nut. Also, I'm not really looking for a P only (p/j is fine). Maple or ebony boards preferred (but not crucial).
Or perhaps you have something comparable that could work as a trade plus cash from you. Feel free to run it by me.
Still open to a partial trade for a Mesa Walkabout Scout 12" plus cash or Markbass LittleMark Tube plus cash for the Gould.
Straight cash - always welcome! |

The only thing I have on my list is a RB IV, and I've been forbiden to trade this...
I'll have to Live with my '80's Modulus BassStar to staisfy my Geoff Gould requirements.
