To the OP: the bass stock would be wired volume, tone, with the three way switch selecting neck+mid, neck+mid+bridge, or mid+bridge.
It appears it's been rewired VVTT with on/off switches for each pickup. Maybe with an active/passive near the original switch? What's it look like under the guard? Maybe someone went all Artist series on this?
For another reference, I bought my stock G3 for $600, but that was a pretty good deal. I'd say you've priced it about right given the repairs/mods, just wanted to give you some more info. |

tony | Just browsing threads on Gibson g3's and i find this. Im the new owner! I love it. I can't put it down. I've ordered some DR sunbeams for it. hope to see them soon. The two supposed volume tone on top seem to do nothing, maybe its just me. but from what i can tell is that there are two pickup selectors, the original and the mods to single out the pick-ups. Kind of weird but you can get a huge selection of tone whether more p-bass type grind to some smooth jazz bass, and even Ric type tones to my ears. Action is pretty good. might lower it just a pinch. I've already played this at a small gig, and right of the bat all the musicians loved the look and tone. thanks for a wonderful bass. |
