*sigh*
The impending feeling of regret looming on the horizon.....
I had this up For Sale about a year ago, then came to my senses.... swore I'd never sell it. But circumstances change - I thought maybe I'd keep her at least til I needed to fund a really nice gotta-have bass GAS purchase. But unfortunately, it comes down to home repair bills and questionable employment continuance.....
This is my Godin (La-Si-Do / Seagull / etc...) A4 Bass - Acoustic/Electric fretted thin body. Beautiful Cognac Burst finish (Not available as a finish option anymore). Under the saddle pickups, 3 band EQ and Volume. Solid top - no soundhole - design allows for much more volume/gain before feedback onstage and live as opposed to other open ABG's.
*** (Read this before asking!) ***
No, this is not very loud acoustically - most ABG's aren't - you will NOT be playing this unplugged and competing with acoustic guitars either in a pub, on the street, or around a campfire. Certainly loud enough to practice on the couch or in the bedroom, but this bass really shines when it is plugged in - with roundwounds it cuts and has a unique tone, with flats or nylons it punches through as any acoustic bass can.
Hollow body, maple neck, active EQ (flipout battery compartment in back), plastic/composite back, solid mahogany top, with special bracing underneath. Comes with Schaller Straplocks - I will include a set of the strap ends (matching black) with the sale (does not come with these usually....go figure???)
The reason I said I'd never sell is you can't get this anymore. I previously owned a 5 string (A5) and sold because I wasn't using it enough, figuring I could always get another in the future. Well, Godin dropped/changed the line - now they have it available, but ONLY with the Synth Access feature built in. If you WANT/NEED that, awesome... but if you DON'T, well, add about $500 to the cost..... the 'acoustic/electric' are now rare and hard to find - mostly cuz people who own them do not want to part with them. I don't want to sell this, but I didn't want my basement or roof to need repairing either....
I've had this for about 2 - 2-1/2 years - when I got it, there was a small crease in the top near the bridge - I had my tech look at it - he said it is not a crack and should not be a problem. It has never changed during the time I've owned it, so I would take his accessment as word - it seems to be just a characteristic of the wood itself. I play on this at home probably 5 times a week, and get to take her out for the occasional band gig. My main reason for buying was an acoustic based band that evolved into an electric band, so unfortunately, this one didn't make the cut as far as 'NEED' basses. (And soon, I will regret this, I'm sure!)
Here're the pics:
(The last few are with her sisters....)
Comes with the original hard shell case, not the gig bag the current ones come with (you can still buy a hard case, but it costs a lot more...)
Asking $550 shipped, Con US, PayPal or USPS Money Order.
Thanks for looking.
