FS Godin BGV - 5-string Sunburst w/ SD Basslines

Sign in to disble this ad
Asking $415 Shipped to CON US (other locations will have small shipping fee) with Godin hardshell case (that link is to the guitar case, but they look the same, except the bass case is obviously bigger...)

SOLD to pasmithy

Hello all,

I have two Godin BGV's, and I'm afraid I no longer have use for them. I can't stand to let them both go, but I am going to sell one...

And here she is:

Godin BGV / BG5 - Sunburst 5-string with two Seymour Duncan Basslines Soapbars, Active preamp, Schaller Strap-locks

Brand New, these went for about $1100.

Specs
Rock Maple neck
Rosewood Fingerboard
16" fingerboard radius
34" Scale
1 13/16" nut width (5-String)
Silver Leaf Maple body with Rock Maple center
Figured Maple 'Leaf' Top
Active Seymour Duncan Basslines
STC-3 tone circuit
Blend
Volume
Mid
Bass/Treble (Tandem pot)

Full back
Back of body
(some light marks/swirls on back from jeans)

Neck by headstock
Middle of Neck
Neck by body
(just to show how beautiful the neck is...no dents or issues)

Neck Width (hand)
Neck Width (thumb)
(it's pretty thin, which is one of the reasons I love these guys...very easy to stretch fingers on fretboard)

Seriously, how many basses are you going to find for less than $500 that are Assembled in the USA (parts made in Canada - not Mexico or Asia)??

Here's a link to the official Godin page, but this bass is different since it has Basslines and doesn't have the Godin logo at the base of the neck. Personally, I think those two things are upgrades.

I bought this bass several years ago and played it at home quite a few times, but it was never gigged. I used my other Godin when playing out.

Everything is working perfectly. It takes a 9v for the preamp, which has an easy-access port in the back. There are a couple light scratches on the back from jeans/buckle which you can see on the "Back of body" picture.

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you are interested, please PM me your zip code for shipping cost.

Thank you!!!

P.S. Not interested in trades, unless you happen to have a Boomerang III that you want to get rid of....since I'm starting a new project. Still playing bass, but I'm all set with that equipment, for now.

Asking $415 Shipped to CON US (other locations will have small shipping fee) with Godin hardshell case (that link is to the guitar case, but they look the same, except the bass case is obviously bigger...)

Just wanted to chime in that these are wonderful basses. I had one of these a few years ago. The Seymour Duncan electronics are just killer. One of the few basses I actually really miss. Great tone, great feel and pretty affordable too, why the heck Godin stopped making these is anyone's guess. Godin do not make anything even remotely this cool anymore. If ever there was a sleeper of a bass, this was it IMHO.

Here are a few sample recordings I did a few years ago with my Seymour Duncan equipped Godin BG-V:

http://www.altguitarbass.com/sounds/pt2-godinbgv.mp3

Now I am really missing my old one.

Best of luck with the sale, someone is going to get a fantastic instrument for an amazing price.

Cheers,
Paul

That's a really pretty bass. Great price too.

If I played 5's this one would be really tempting...

I thought I would chime in as well. The BG5 is an excellent bass! I was endorsed by Godin several years ago and playing their BG5 series. Unfortunetly not long after I got my endorsement they stopped making the BG5! I was using the Freeway for a while but prefered the BG5 - very nice bass!

What's the neck like on these?...I see it has a flat fingerboard, 16" radius.

I find the neck to be pretty thin, which I like. It's the reason I got this bass, as I was intimidated to switch from a 4-string to 5-string, but the neck allows me to play comfortably.

I added pictures to the neck in the original post, but I'll show a couple here:

(My thumb-width is just a tad smaller than an inch)

I had the identical bass but a 4 string. Top notch quality, very nice sounding and playing bass. It's too bad Godin doesn't make this bass anymore because it definitely is a sleeper. If I wasn't intent on building another one, I'd spend the money for sure.

Does it have 19mm spacing by any chance?

The string spacing is approx 17mm. Great for chords and people worried about converting from 4 to 5 strings...but definitely tighter than 19mm would feel.
