I bought this HB-8 a couple of months ago and right after buying it I found a deal on a vintage Hagstrom H-8. The H-8 had some issues and I wanted to see if my luthier could work them out, and he did. At that point it was A/B compare time and this HB-8 has much stronger output and thundering tone. It's a freight train of a bass. It plays much better than I thought it would, and has a great look. Actually, it was a tough choice to make, but I'm a vintage guy and I had one of the 60's H-8's in the 80's so I decided to keep that one.
This is a medium scale bass, so 32" scale. I peeled the plastic off the front of the pickguard, and it hasn't had any scratches or issues. The edges of the frets need to be polished, because they are sharp. Came that way new, and if you bought a new one for $520, you'd have the same thing but you'd get to peel the plastic off the pickguard yourself. If that's worth $70, get a new one. If you want to save a few bucks, here you go. No case or bag, but I'll pack it good and safe.
